Re: Making use of old computers?

Make your current computer a "music only" computer, take it off the net.
Make your old computer your "not music" computer, use it for everything else.

Just a suggestion.

Re: Attn: DSI Tempest Owners - Request to Fix Tempest

I hope we get some action from DSI. My Tempest would be super awesome if it just worked a bit better.

Re: CPU

IMHO the newer CPU's like Skylake are all about saving power. I guess it's for the earth or something :) I have two rigs with Haswell CPUs which IMHO were that last powerful CPU's from Intel. Sure they run hotter but they overclock like mad. And just have raw power. Also if you go with Haswell the 1...

Re: Chromaphone2 - demo sounds amazing . . .

Yes, definitely worth the upgrade price. Chromaphone 2 is in that category of virtual synthesizers that try to actually recreate the sounds of real instruments. I think it totally succeeds in recreating struck, plucked, and bowed instruments. You can also use Cromaphone 2 to create some very weird a...

Re: MPC 1000 vs. Maschine mikro

The MPC1K is awesome in so many ways. It's a sampler, it's a drum machine, it's a rocking sequencer with two MIDI ins and outs, it has a custom OS available -JJOS, it can be customized to look really cool, it's built like a tank, it's a drum pad controller. The MPC1K has very good midi timing for ve...

Are you using the audio that is built into the laptop or are you using a separate audio interface?

n00b forum - Users' Help Exchange - closed - EPIC FAIL

:Rant On: I can't help but notice that IMHO the Ableton closure of Users' Help Exchange - closed has been a complete an utter failure. The Music and Audio Production forum is completely full of questions that should be in https://www.ableton.com/answers. I know the the MODS do the best they can but ...

Is the GUI 3D? You know old fashioned 3D with the glasses with a red and green lens. I don't have the glasses so I can't test.

Re: ABLETON and ReCycle?

ReCycle at this point is more of a museum piece. :D "Look how we used to do it way back when!" 8) I have a license for ReCycle but I can't remember that last time I used it. I believe you can demo it from Propellerheads if you want. I would liken it to baking your own bread vs. buying bread at a bak...

Re: Plugins and iLok

I like iLok. It works fine for me. I use it on multiple computers. I also use Waves Central, NI Service Center, eLicenser Control Center (eLCC), and a host of other license management systems. I've found that a simple uninstall/reinstall, update to the most recent version, or a reboot solves most is...

Re: Live Packs - extra space?

Hi, I know there are tons of references in here to how Live Packs are installed, but I still am rather confused by the process. I downloaded all the packs. they are sitting in a download directory. When I install the packs. they appear to all get get uncompressed and installed somewhere else. Are t...

Re: USB Audio Interface Recommendations, Please?

ROLAND UA-22 DUO CAPTURE EX I have this as a backup audio interface. It's good. I did not like the ASIO latency choices. I'm used to RME and their latency scale 32, 64.128 ... The ROLAND UA-22 DUO CAPTURE EX has an odd latency scale. Also on the ROLAND UA-22 DUO CAPTURE EX I could never get a low la...
