live not loading .mid files - ??
I'm going nuts here. I have some .mid files that contain soundsets that I want to send to a synth. But Live will not load them for some reason. If I drop and drag them from windows explorer, they show up as empty midi clips. If I pull them up in Live's browser, Live will play their demos but will no...

Re: Hard or soft.. which are you ?
At the moment, I'm doing all hardware and just processing in Ableton. I'm using a Monomachine for sequencing and as a synth, a Machinedrum and my latest edition the Waldorf XT. I've also got a budding Eurorack modular that isn't getting a lot of use yet. Soon though, I'm hoping to run hard and softw...

Using two Launchpads with Novation's LaunchpadStepSeq
I finally demoed Max For Live, hooked up Novation's LaunchpadStepSeq to my Launchpad and was floor with how great it is. Just what I wanted. So I got another Launchpad so that I can mess with more than one sequence at a time. Unfortunately, the LaunchpadStepSeq does not seem to deal with multiple La...

Re: Anyone try the new Ozone 5
I just tried it and was very impressed. I think the exciter sounds wwwaaayyy better, the reverb is actually usable now, the controls are better in the multiband compressor, and the new limiter models sounds smoother than any of the older ones even when they were set to mellow settings.

Re: FLstudio will have a session view !
hmm. i also remember the live mode from years ago when fl was my main music creation thing. now they just need a real mixer and real audio recording and editing. As far as I know FL's mixer is far better than Live's. Dedicated mixier, solo, mute, stereo separation, reverse polarity, 3-band EQ, XY p...

Re: FLstudio will have a session view !
Ah, I like that combo session / arrangement view a lot. Being able to actually see the midi makes it all tangle. I'm always in for visual feedback. I'll be keeping an eye on this.

Re: price drop
Why do people keep suggesting that Ableton is going out of business? They make one of the most popular DAWs and have popular hardware deals with it to boot.

Looks like a clear indication that Live 9 will be announced at any moment to me.

Re: Is Suite a necessity?
There are plenty of better synths than Operator and Analog. I'm glad I invested my money elsewhere.

Re: APC40. Worth it?
I just got one and am sssooo glad I did. Huge workflow improvement. Much easier to be creative in composition and tweaking knobs is a lot more fun than on screen or with static knobs that need to hit a pickup point. Very worth it.

Re: Kiss the imminent Live 9 goodbye.
I don't think this necessarily indicates much about time frames. I would take a hiring spree to indicated an influx of investment into the company, which would probably only speed things up.

I would love a tight 'link two instances of Live from two computers' hook up . A fairly seamless connection that would allow users to take advantage of having CPU power available from multiple boxes.

Re: Double mastering ! Double Power !
One thing I try to keep in mind with compression is "ear fatigue". Some music just sounds annoying for no apparent reason, right? Over compression is good way to introduce that to your music, even if you don't notice it because you're so close to the work.

Re: Ableton and sylenth. Can't automate
Weird, I don't have any trouble with it. Open it up, hit configure in the device box in Live, click on stuff I want to control, and it pops right up. You have the latest version of Live installed?
