Re: Theory - new sound engine in Live 9
I think the effects generally have a dry and grainy sound. After demoing a couple EQs, I think the same is true of EQ8, though to a lesser extent. All of that might be be design to keep CPU usage low, as the tone focused are going to be using 3rd party plugins anyways. What concerns me is the possib...

Theory - new sound engine in Live 9
The rumor is that Ableton does not sound as good the competition. Be it due to the effects or something less obvious, some people believe it and it could be true. So my theory is that Ableton is taking so long on Live 9 because they are rebuilding the sound engine. New sound in Live 9. Got to be tru...

Re: Pro Tools Master, Ableton ReWire Slave, Reason ReWire Slave
Ah gosh. That sounds like headache. I was JUST thinking about the possibility of doing something like the opposite, using Live's session view to trigger stuff in another DAW, but your scenario makes the whole concept sound less appealing to me.

Re: What is the best way to do parallel compression?
If you are up for using a 3rd party compressor, many of them have a parallel option built in. The free and good Density mkII (http://varietyofsound.wordpress.com/vst-effects/) has a wet/dry nob, for example. Personally, I only use the Ableton compressor when I want to side-chain something. Splitting...

Re: To Maschine Or Not To Maschine
This has been an interesting thread as I've been considering a Mikro (just 'cause the desk space i have is limited). And I did catch an artist at a recent master class (who shall remain nameless) mention that AKAI has something up their sleeves for Live so I'm guessing a fully integrated drum machi...

Your signature is full of yellow?yellow is a disgusting, disgusting color.
Painting your speakers is sure to degrade your sound quality way more than mixing sub and main speakers brands would.

Re: Best sounding audio interface under $300?
Well yeah, I don't mean "help" like "power", but clear so that I'm not mixing against something that isn't representing the sound well. If that's really not an issue, then great. One less thing to worry about.

Re: Best sounding audio interface under $300?
So is Scarlett getting the a lot of votes because of its functionality or its sound? Personally, I don't have a lot of i/o requirements. I'm mostly concerned about sound quality to help with eqing/mixing/mastering.

Thanks for the feedback. Definitely helpful. I think I've got the sound about down now -

Maybe a little more treble on the snare. Now I just need make the drum parts interesting, add some drops, and shorten it by about a 1/3rd. Just that.

help me get the sound right - electro sort of
Hey all. Want to help me get the sound of this song right? The structure after minute 3 or so is still up in the air. I'm just working on the sound right now. Here's the link - http://rydn.bandcamp.com/track/6-18-6-28-v2 I just listened to it in my car and not-great ear phones for the first time tod...

Prestigious responders! I like the looks of the TC and I'm sure the Roland is great, but I'm USB only. Should have mentioned that.

Best sounding audio interface under $300?
Nooby question for you all - What would you say is the best sounding audio interface for under $300 new? I've been thinking about picking up the Native Instruments Audio 6, but I'm having a hard time finding good comparison to justify that. If I can spend less get and get the same or better quality,...

Big +1. This, a better gating tool and 64 bit are the 3 things I want at the moment.
