Re: Stuttering, clicks ...

Do you use ASIO or Windows drivers? Don't know if there's an ASIO driver for the X-Fi, but I believe www.asio4all.com works for just about any card that doesn't have it natively.

It's non-destructive and simple to install/test. Give it a whirl to see if it improves.

Re: External Sync - Wobbly Tempo. . . ?!?!

I use a TR-707 to trigger both my 303 and Ableton for a tight sync. Since version 8 just turning on EXT doesn't work anymore. I have to go into the audio settings, set DirectMusic to MME and back again. Only then does it accept the signal from the 707. I also notice that when I set the 707 to a cert...

Re: As good as any projects runs into memory problems!!!!!!!!!!!

Just maybe, sending the .als will help track that memory problem, so it's not a complete waste to at least send it off to Ableton. I get your annoyance though. I'm having problems with Live 8 myself too (external clock not recognized, crackling on some synths) that has nothing to do with my set as f...

Re: Live doesn't notice any midi signal of the akai mpd 32

Related... maybe (or not) ;) But Live 8 doesn't accept my TR-707 clock (EXT activated) unless I set the DirectMusic to MME once, and then back again. There's definitely something off with external gear - I get crackling when EXT is on (which is a bummer since the 707 is my main clock and also trigge...

Re: Warping / delete markers in Live 8

Cheers, thanks for the video - very enlightening. I figured out how to mass delete the markers - indeed select that time line and press delete. I liked/preferred the old way though. [edit] Hm, no I guess I didn't figure it out after all, I can't anymore. MF this is unintuitive. I'm not too keen on t...

Warping / delete markers in Live 8

Hi! Yesterday I upgraded to Live 8 and I'm glad to report no problems (I did with every version of 7 after 7.0.10). The sound of 8 is crisper and 'less digital' to my ears. Anyway, I have a question about the revamped warping (which takes some getting used to) but when I drag in a (new) large a cape...

It sucks that they don't just keep the previous versions available. I have problems with 7.0.14 but far less with version x.x10.

Had to scour the internet for version .10 / found it at different site eventually, but I'd rather get it from 'the source'.

Me again: the pub was great. ;) Anyway - I noticed a lot of people complaining of problems with 7.0.14 but "worked fine in 7.0.10" comments. I scoured the internet for that version (there aren't any previous version on Albeton.com I could find?) But long story short: no setup changes and NO problems...

Heard nothing from Ableton yet, not even a confirmation to my e-mail. :( Been busy with tweaking settings in 7 (even though 6 works fine with the same drivers)... crackling still like hell, cpu never indicates more than 13 percent. I have deleted the preferences file, played around with the buffer/l...

I have sent stuff to support this weekend, so haven't heard anything back yet. I'll wait if they find anything. I use the latest version. But while I was playing with 7, I had occasional spikes to over 100% in a newly built set, that didn't contain much (drums that influence a simple padlike sound i...

7.0.14: static and crackling

Hi, I just upgraded my Live 6 tot Live 7 and was playing around with it. I haven't changed anything to my setup, but I have a lot of noise, crackling when I play around with the new sidechaining feature. Old sets play fine though, where I use non-native sidechaining vsts. Live 6 plays fine, same set...

I'm listening to Porous right now and I like it very much! Love the sounds and atmosphere of it all. You've clearly put some thought into it. Too bad it's not downloadable ;)

Nice soundscapes, but the arpeggios are pretty fast (128 bpm, rough guess?) aren't they..., not something I would necessarily call downtempo or chillout, but it sounds cleanly produced and interesting. I occassionally make downtempo stuff myself, but take a completely different route. :) Not a Jarre...

Hey thanks for pointing me towards sox. The very first file I tried it on it converted to a .wav. All subsequent files ended in "sox: Failed reading hitme: Could not determine file type." but still, it seems there's some life in them dar samples. Weird to see filenames with datestamps from 18-05-198...
