Complex rhythmical textures

Was sniffing around for production technique inspiration the other night and stumbled upon this: Take a vocal sound, set it looping but with a relatively short loop size. Now, map the loop start position to a rhythmical step sequencer. This means the start point of the loop will jump around in sync ...

Synth patch

I'm trying to recreate the patch used in this chord, from a Deadmau5 sample CD: XF_SynChords04.mp3

I've found some Massive presets that come close, but not quite. Any ideas?

I want to collaborate with a friend who's got Max for Live, Operator and Analog. I'm using Live 8 with no add-ons, simply because I've never had a need for those instruments. When I open her .als, of course it gives me a million warnings about the stuff I don't have. That's no big deal, but what suc...

Re: Synth ID

Cool- thanks for the reply. It's definitely a preset as I remember the same exact patch in old Inspector Gadget cartoons, heh. Also, Daft Punk used it in a track as well (the patch, not an Inspector Gadget sample).

Would love to find out the exact machine and patch...

sweetjesus you make some good points. Oh hi, I never post here anymore but occasionally lurk general forums while looking thru troubleshooting threads. Like how to stop Live from stuttering... Y'know if it's not stutters/hiccups/audio glitches, etc then it's your mmt-8 memory wiping 15 minutes befor...

So um, COSM any luck? I haven't played out since Halloween but I do recall having 3-4 minor stutters. I guess I'll try the upgrade and see what happens. If not, I'm considering breaking up my one big Live set into a single .als for each track. My friend recently showed me the live looping functions ...

Misery loves company- I run 12-15 tracks in one giant file, and Ideal with this issue on a regular basis. To combat this issue I've: upgrading my drive from 5200 to 7200rpm, I now use a cooling dock fan, I've experimented with loading clips to ram (no big difference), I "pre-play" random scenes in m...

Yeah backups, hmmm. What are those?
Anyway I rebuilt the track in 2 days and it's better (of course). Still, wackness for sure.
Thanks,
B

Corrupt .als file- is there anything I can do to save it?

My computer crashed while rendering the final mixdown of a track. My fan sucks, CPU got too hot, mobo did emergency shutdown. Upon restarting live and attempting to open my .als, I got the following: "The document "rubberbands.als" appears to be corrupt" Is this the kiss of death? Or is there someth...

I play GK's remix of "Abracadabra" all the time- didn't know they played live as well! To answer OP's question well there's Lance DeSardi's band, Landshark. I saw 'em at the Summer Music Conference here in SF- they used a laptop for backing tracks, then drums/gtr/vox on top. I guess a laptop hidden ...

I have a Toshi R25 and love it. Well, I guess I wouldn't mind a little more CPU but we're always pushing our machines aren't we? No matter how much muscle they have you can always find a way to make it crackle, ha. As I've mentioned on this board before, my biggest reason for choosing a tablet PC wa...

LOL @Angstrom- awesome man. I've temporarily shut-off soundsystems at warehouse parties 2 or 3 times, earlier in my live PA career when I didn't know how to use power efficiently. Basically overloading the system with too much bass, which trips the breaker in the amps. Takes like 1 minute to get 'em...
