Leads

Looking for rec's on a very low CPU-intensive softsynth, to play leads with. Had NI Pro-52 going, but too many CPU spikes causing EEEEEEEERRRRRGHHH sounds just when I was getting into a solo... Now I have an instance of Simpler loaded w/ a synth patch- less glitches but not 100% spike free. What's a...

Congrats on the new release Abe. I immediately saw something different and was wondering what's up- upon opening my liveset, the normal plug-in's load, clips start appearing, etc. but then there's a little text at the bottom that says "Samples to load: 170" and it counts down as they load. Weridness...

FS: Seagate Momentus 7200RPM 100GB, 2.5" Drive

For all the laptop headz out there- this is a blazing fast 7200RPM drive, brand new, OEM. I mistakenly got the ATA-6, not SATA, and unfortunately I've exceeded newegg.com's 30-day return policy by a month. It's been sitting in it's static free bag up until 3 days ago, so it's in mint condition, neve...

Hi Amaury,

It happens w/ 3rd-party plugs like Novation Bass Station, Battery2, minimogue, etc. Is there a way to resize the window?

Thanx,
B

VST windows too small

This is a weird one- when I open the pop-up window to view 3rd-party VST/VSTi's, the window is only like, 600 px wide, 200 px tall, and so I can't see or tweak a lot of the parameters, and I can't drag a corner to make it any bigger. I thought it was my style XP so I took it off but nope, same probl...

Could this be caused by a hard drive delay, i.e. Live requests the audio file but the drive takes too long to find it to stream it w/out hiccuping? If that's the case you could Defrag (well you're on a mac hmmm), make sure all your sound files are in the same directory, experiment with loading some ...

If you can get a second internal drive, then you'll get the best performance. Please explain- I'm assuming you'd want to keep the Live app, all your .als files, and all linked audio files on the same drive to minimize disk seek times- right? What would you do with the other drive- OS and non-audio ...

Some of the best players I know don't read music. My friend does regular session work for tons of underground house releases, on labels you know, and he can't read music. He does, however, have a huge memory bank of chords and scales. And he's been playing keyboards for 15+ years. House music, at le...

Interesting... My impression was that rap music *is* pop music now. Rock had it's day, it's Green Day as it were, but hip-hop DOMINANTES pop culture: radio, MTV, magazines, fashion, culture, etc. Then again I live in Oakland- I know it's different in the rest of the US. How many folks know MFDOOM or...

I find myself bashing hip-hip that *doesn't* use samples, like the aforementioned Dirty South stuff, the Hyphy stuff we have to live with out here in Oakland and every other mediocre reginoal movement that produces exclusively with Korg Triton presets (don't forget the out of key rave stabs and nove...

Burning Man's quality as of late is questionable...err..umm...well I have too many diehard BM friends who've been going since pink fur arm sleeves were invented so I shouldn't comment anymore than that. Let's just say the vibe is def. spreading and hey that's a good thing right? Still, I don't get a...

Funny, I'm re-writing my bio right now, but I think it would be a bit impersonal to post it in this thread. I have 2 careers: my day job and music (night job). So by day I'm the Senior Image Coordinator at a mid-size ad agency in the San Francisco Bay Area. Fancy way of saying I Photoshop for a livi...
