Re: Komplete 9

Everything above is true. If you think you're going to enjoy at least two of the individual products in the package, get it. Updates are really cheap once a new version is out. For the most part the new versions include everything from the previous one and a few new ones, but there are a few excepti...

Re: Does Turbo boost on CPUs actually help with REAL-TIME audio?

So, please let me know what current laptops you know of that really scream (in terms of speed), that have a T.I. firewire controller (or other reputable), preferably Windows machines, but I'm open to go the MB Pro route if necessary. This thread is interesting: http://www.gearslutz.com/board/music-...

Re: Enough Performance with a MacBook Pro???

I did more than the OP wants to do with my old Core 2 Duo MacBook. I also had an octopus-like USB device setup to go with it :) The i-series of Intel CPUs are significantly faster than the old C2Ds, so you should be fine with any quad-core, or even a dual-core. But I'd go for 15" and 4 cores if it's...

Re: Hardware synths vs sofware synhs

Isn't Virus TI just virtual analog? Then it's not the same as a real Moog or whatever. Not better or worse, necessarily, but I wouldn't buy a VA bundle masquerading as an analog synth over the real thing ;) But personally I prefer software toys and a few good controllers. It's mostly a space issue -...

Re: June 25th !!!!!!!

I'm not giving up on a future Push purchase, but this sort of thing is why I never pre-order. The money not spent on a pre-order will be spent on other audio toys. I need a portable recorder anyway, and now is a great time to grab that Zoom H2n I wanted if there's no Push in stores yet. I don't see ...

Re: New to Ableton & Push

If you're getting Push I also think you'll manage just fine without any keyboard. It's a different way to play, and you might like it better than a keyboard. If you still want a keyboard I'd say 49 keys might feel limited. At least for my use I wished for a 61-key after getting a cheap 49-key Keyrig...

Re: CPU 30% when the track is not playing?

I've had an empty set use just enough CPU to speed up the fans and remain there, so it's not just because of dormant effects not really being dormant. This has happened on either OS. My old MacBook had Live running overnight with 29% CPU constantly, and no actual set loaded.

Re: Does Turbo boost on CPUs actually help with REAL-TIME audio?

Fast cores are only part of the solution to responsive audio, but it of course depends on what you do. Real-time processing is largely CPU speed and memory speed (which isn't an issue with anything but massive kits). If you work off round-robin sample alternations and RAM can't hold it all you have ...

Re: PUSH SHIPS IN?!?!

If you had it pre ordered for 3 months im sure you would be. Yeah, maybe. I've got a couple of pre-orders for other things which I made in December, and I'm patiently waiting. But of course the sellers also communicate delays all the time, and none were expected to ship any earlier than May. One is...

Re: PUSH SHIPS IN?!?!

I don't have any trouble with this being delayed, since I didn't pre-order and will probably just pick one up when the magical constellation of availability and money is right. It's entertaining in a train-wreck sort of sense to watch how little this company really communicates, though. I'll give th...

Re: Post your Live 9 upgrade path and price

Live 8 Suite off an acquaintance - $200
Live 9 Standard upgrade - $159

I was offered $299 for Live 9 Suite, but I can't swing it now. After upgrading to 9 Standard it's still $299. Oh well, I got the features I actually need and ability to use Push.

Re: 32 bit version with 8GB Ram on Macbook Pro

If you use a lot of sample-based synths memory can run tight (takes me less than one 8Dio product to use over 4GB, for example), but Analog etc. is all about CPU (or hard drive speed, if you freeze them, I guess). A 64-bit OS with lots of RAM is never a bad thing. At the very least it means you don'...

Re: ever notice how older people are stuck in a certain decade..

something that looked like an old washing machine. This thing had a crank and strings. That's a hurdy gurdy, although of a more modern make, I think. It's supposed to look homemade and creaky :) Making your own instruments would probably keep you stuck in a decade, since it could take a decade to m...

Re: interested in handheld recorders? Zoom H6

I've been eyeing a H2n the past week, actually. The recorder and its accessory kit doesn't end up that expensive. I've watched a bunch of YouTube videos with tests, and it seems to be pretty good quality too. The H4/H6 are all about extra features over the cheaper one.

The poll lacks the "never" option ;)

Yeah, they should be better at communicating. Every company communicates these days. This Internet thing was *made* for it.
