Some sounds date - dx7, m1.

Just my opinion of course.
I think it's funny that everyone seems to have gone crazy for the TR707. I mean come on, that was the pauper's 909 surely?

Well not any more, they're £300 to £400 on eBay. 8O

Is this because all the working DX7s have been bought up?

We'll be on to Access Viruses again by the end of the year.

But will anyone admit to liking (or even remembering) nu-school breaks?

They are. I got an email about it in December, and the shop page shows you what upgrade offers you're entitled to if you're logged in. Targeted advertising, innit - clever stuff.

Re: Live 9 Pricing

are you deffo 100% sure it was 25% off? Well I'm 100% sure I paid 75% of €238.67, so if €238.67 was the full price without a 25% discount, I'm definitely 100% certain I got a 25% discount on that price. Including German VAT and a rate of 19%. So the real question is whether I'm 100% sure €238.67 wa...

Re: ducking the main "Instruments" bus with vocals (sidechain)

From all the stuff I've read (Sound On Sound mag mainly) it's all done by hand - ie. painstakingly drawing in mix automation. This is what the career known as 'mix engineer' involves these days. Also, if you're listening *on* the radio, different stations have tend to have their own distinctive comp...

Re: Learning to DJ in Ableton vs Traktor

Traktor is easier if you want to just throw something in. Even something you've never heard before - it gets the beat grid right 95% of the time and it's really easy to jump around inside a track on the fly. OTOH, Ableton needs a lot of preparation but you can use as many loops and bits and pieces a...

Re: From an 8-bar loop to ... a song

^ what [art] says. And don't be afraid to start work 'in the middle', like around bar number 81, or where you think your chorus might be, or wherever. It's nice have space either side of a section, so you know how to get there as well as what's coming afterwards.
