Re: help from any Logic/Pro Tools and Ableton users out there??

I don’t really care what scientific A/B tests people want to post. Different DAWs spit a different sound out the other end, for better or worse. that's just it, to me ableton sounds XYZ, logic sounds ABC and pro tools 123. Are you really going to claim you make better MUSIC because of these subtlet...

Re: Being an artist in the digital age - Matt Lange & Kerry Leva

ah Berklee :) I listened to the interview while writing emails at work but i caught most of the finer points. I agree with what they're saying, they're educated, they're branded but still not monetizing. I personally think there is NO middle class in our field, 99% of the money goes to 1% of the ind...

Re: help from any Logic/Pro Tools and Ableton users out there??

all the programs are great, nearly all of logic's stock plugs and protools stock plugs have some 3rd party equivalent so I wouldn't focus on that. Regarding daw "summing", it's been discussed TO DEATH. Just know what you're doing, where you're coming up short and focus on that. BTW what kind of musi...

Re: Help ... controlling drum rack with V-Drum (external MIDI)

hey guys i have a friend coming over w/ a v-drum set just to record some loops. are you simply setting up a drum trigger, midi input from the TD-XX and thats it? how are you compensating for latency just on the track itself?

Edit: he has the TD-12, looks like only one output :( bummer

Re: Plugin delay compensation. WTF?

Hi sporkies, can you please post the set, not just the sound? if PDC on versus PDC off would sound the same, than having PDC would be pretty stupid in the first place. Just the fact that it sounds different alone does not tell anything else apart from: PDC does something. Before judging if what it ...

Re: Simple question about velocity/entering midi notes

double click on the piano roll so it enters a note, hold alt then drag up while holding the left mouse click down. it should bring up the velocity, now when you double click they should automatically be done at that previous setting

Re: mac osx lion and its effects on LIVE

developers have had access to lion since December (at least that's when the news first started reporting on it). I have a feeling the first 30 days will be a bit shakey but i'm with beats me, if you're running fine give it 3-6 mos before you jump ship especially if you perform live w/ your machine.

Re: A generic "what will improve my sound" thread. Pop music

postal service influence? the main guy who did all the programming ( Dntel ) is a heavy sampler and if you're after that sound you need to source your sounds from where he does. Not everything can be synthesized and sampling has it's own "sound". Ok enough of sampling. Your vocal recordings are not ...

Re: Using spectrum

there isn't much, really it's about time and accuracy. do you need the graph to move quicker w/ the sound source then set your block amount higher & avg lower. I haven't found a benefit in log vs lin, they seem to do the same thing for my uses

Re: Adam A3X deal

i see a dollar sign and not a pound sign but i'd check w/ Juno they are a very well respected company and have been in biz as long as i can think back. Again check to make sure the currency is correct as they are a UK dealer and might not be able to sell internationally.

i love my Adam A7's :)
