Re: On Value (or: you're valuable, your record is worthless)

I was listening to a new interview with Kate Bush this morning and this thread came to mind. For the record, I'm often very much a track & playlist kinda person myself. But I still think the album is important, and I really liked her thoughts on the subject. I'm going to do my best to transcribe (ex...

Re: future producers will be......

+ have a unique personal sound...not necessarily a new genre, but a new way of combining things/innovative techniques + be expertly versed in their daw, midi control and (at least minimal) music theory + know how to master, or at the very least get their tracks prepped properly for a pro mastering ...

Mic/Vocal recording tips..

I've a good studio mic but because my current acoustical setup @ home is less than ideal, I *really* struggle at times to get usable vocal takes. It doesn't matter that I record when things are as quiet as possible.. lack of soundproofing is lack of soundproofing, and sometimes there's just way too ...

Re: Ableton 25% Sale - Start the conspiracies!

 @ this being a conspiracy. The holidays are always a good time to mark stuff down in an attempt to cash in on the spendiest time of the year. Factor in a poor global economy on top of that and there ya go!

Re: Strings plug in.

I think Ableton's Orchestral instruments sound pretty impressive. I'm assuming the strings you're referring to "that come with Live 8" are from the EIC2 collection that's included in the boxed version. Orchestral Strings is only $189 http://www.ableton.com/orchestral-strings and would greatly expand...

Re: VST Plugins

You shouldn't need to know where to install it to, as legit versions of Massive have an installer program that will install to the correct locations, if yours doesn't, try this: http://bit.ly/vOD8y9 it should solve your problem I'm pretty sure the first time I installed an NI product I definitely n...

Re: VST Plugins

You need to create a couple folders to put your all your VST plugins. Create one folder for 32bit VSTs, and another for 64 bit. Make sure these folders are properly labeled and located in a place you'll remember. Next open up Live and go to Options > Preferences > File Folder > Turn "Use VST Custom ...

Re: price drop

I started looking into purchasing Live last November and the price has pretty much always been $499 @ most online retailers, with the occasional drop to $399. So it's more like a $100 price drop. I snagged it for $399 a few months ago, but I certainly don't think a $500-600 price tag is overvaluing ...

Re: What ableton upgrade do i buy?

^I think you might be right. I just remembered the APC controllers come with a special version of Ableton, so an upgrade from that software might be your best opition. Just to be safe, I would contact Ableton's support to make sure the upgrade from Live Lite offered via zzounds will work with the Li...

Re: What would be the main advantage(s) for 64 bit?

64 bit allows the user to fully integrate the current Live Set with: Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Skype, SoundCloud, Bandcamp, Spotify, Myspace, Pandora, Foursquare, Flickr, Loopt, Linkedin, StumbleUpon, Groupon, couchsurfing.org, and the Ikea Store Locator. 64 bit Social Networking is a break throu...

Re: What ableton upgrade do i buy?

You need the full version if you've never owned Ableton software before, which looks to be priced at $399.00 right now. That's a good deal. The $399 price occasionally pops up, but it will likely go back up to $499 soon. You'll be able to upgrade to Suite and other versions -should you decide to do ...

-1 Just because you decide to share something on here doesn't mean you're entitled to a response. Not everyone who checks out your music is going to have something to say about it. Have you glanced at some of the view counts for these threads? A lot of them are pretty low. Most of your soundcloud tr...

Re: Live Packs..Worth it?

I've probably went a bit overboard souping up my library recently but I plan to put it to good use. More options certainly doesn't always = better, but I still have plenty of limitations to work with, that's for sure! I think Puremagnetik has some great packs, and I love the Soniccouture instruments...
