Re: Glitches on Powerful Machine

I bought an IBM server (System x3755) with 4x Dual Opteron 2.6 , 16 GB RAM DDR2 ECC because I want to use it as a DAW unit. You intentionally bought this thing for use as a DAW? (Was it just a rock-bottom price that you couldn't turn down?) wjbuchanan's advice is right on... but you'd still have be...

Re: Glitches on Powerful Machine

These servers come configured to be used in a datacenter, which means that they have power saving settings configured. This makes sense when you have lots of them consuming 100's of watts, but not in a home environment. First of all, make sure you have the latest BIOS - there have been a number of f...

Re: Launching clips successively with Spacebar?

Does it have to be the spacebar? Couldn't you map the the clips to 1,2,3,4,5 on the keyboard?

Have a look into Clyphx, that might be able to help you as well.

Cheers

Re: Exporting midi clips WITH enveloppes ?

Which DAW are you importing into?

When I export a clip from Ableton 9, and reimport it back in, the envelopes are duplicated.

Also, when I do the same with Logic 9, the envelopes are there straight away.

Perhaps it's an issue with the program you're importing into...?

Re: Serious crash error

Try deleting your preferences files, or renaming them to .old.

Also, remove any USB devices such as sound cards, MIDI controllers before startup.

Re: Can't force-quit Live process after crash (Win 7)

Try unplugging any USB devices when this happens - some drivers can cause Ableton to do this.

Re: Monosequencer sequences into clips?

Yes...just create a new MIDI rack, hit I/O for that rack and select the rack where Mono Sequencer is installed as "MIDI from".

Arm the track for recording, and press record on the required clip slot.

Re: i will do it - first band practice and future setup?

If you can afford a TI keyboard, go for it...you'll have every parameter mapped as a hardware control but also have the advantage of the TI VST plugin, which will give you recall of your settings in Ableton, automatable parameters, etc. I have a TI Snow, whilst it's not brilliant at being "out of th...

Re: Progress bar (now time) dragging behind audio

Not sure if you're using Live 9, but try the latest beta - has some GUI performance fixes in the release notes.

Re: what DAWs look like on the mba 13

I have a MBP 13 which has a lower resolution, here's a screenshot with Ableton at full screen. http://snag.gy/otbcc.jpg The MBA has a higher resolution but the same screen size, so you'd be able to fit more on the screen. Just goto any Apple store, I'm sure they'd let you install Ableton trial on on...

Live 9 Issue Template

Hello, I've been browsing the forum, and see a lot of people with various Live 9 issues, however I do not see any setup details or problem descriptions. Troubleshooting these issues will be impossible unless Ableton can see patterns in hardware/software configurations and VSTs in use. For example, I...

Re: Best suggestion on running SSD as system drive w/HDD as data

I was planning on using a USB audio interface. I've been told that USB2 audio interfaces outperform Firewire audio interfaces, so I figured I would go with the USB2 types (ASIO). I'm currently trying to find a decent 8x8 audio interface that is 64 bit compatible. I plan on using Silent Way as well....

Re: Best suggestion on running SSD as system drive w/HDD as data

As long as you are not using USB for your 2nd HDD, this should be fine. SSD = OS + paging file, Program Data (including Live) HDD = Samples, etc I'm not exactly sure how the 2nd drive is connected, I'll have to see if I can find that out. What is a "paging file"? Also, did you look at that "SSD cac...
