Hey thanks everyone for chiming in. You can actually use a flexibile type of carbon filter that turns plastic-like under heat- definitely would be quesitonable on because of heat dissipation. Check out this guy's work http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=54808&page=12 I'm finding carbon ...

Carbon Fibering your laptop

Hey, I'm going to embark on a cosmetic project for my laptop. I'm going to put carbon fiber on it to give it a personalized flair. I've seen pictures of a few guys who did it, and they report no negative side affects like added heat, or sticky adhesives remaining on the laptop if you wanted to take ...

I'd never had any problems with 1 gig, or even just 512MB, but I recently expanded fully to 2 gigs in order to take better advantage of preset management within instrument racks. Now I can load instrument racks with 128 simpler or impulse instances each with a different preset. This makes auditioni...

Why do I get the feeling that this site is a little biased towards CPU only studios?? :) there's other pieces of hardware that I'd encourage someone to get over a macbook if it were more versatile than the Roland VP-330 (I'd pick a V-Synth over a macbook). In reality, that one piece will not...

im using the KLC in live. KLC version 1.0.0. although it's on version 1.1.9 now i think. Live version 6.0.1.

I don't recall having any problems, though I use it more as a synth on another computer that I have midi'd up to my laptop. I'm pretty sure i've created sets with the KLC loaded in.

happens to the best of machines :) I'd create another set with the same plugins that you had loaded in the set that crashed. See if it's able to be reproduced predictably.

I recently installed Norton on my laptop machine running ableton. I just disabled all of the automatic anything and background sniffing services. Just update your virus definitions weekly and run a scan on the weekends, then shut it down. You should be fine.
