Re: SSD and recording. Good or Bad?

Interesting miekwave. Which ramdisk app are you using? I'm on the app store and macupdate, and I generally like to pick the one that is being actively updated, good customer ratings, etc. iRamdisk appears to get better reviews, but that could just mean that no one knows how to use ramdisk. That woul...

Re: Sample Library Selection and Organization

No system. I've one dumping ground for 1-shots, and another for loops. And I've a holding folder for samples that I've bit, or extracted off the internet. * You could use Audiofinder or smart folders with a number of saved searches and see if it catches enough to keep you satisfied? Maybe make a sea...

Re: After 10 years with ableton I just tried Studio One...

When you loaded the bounced tracks into Studio One, where were the files saved? On the same external drive? While this might not explain the extent of your experiences, I do find that my drives getting up to speed is the bottle neck for my results.

madlab-sorry to hear that you're getting radio silence on the boards, but it sounds like you're diligent enough that you are going to get your answers on your own terms. To let you and Toscanini sense where I'm coming from-there's probably a vast consumerist mass that also fits into my demographic: ...

Re: Max For Live Vendors?

Little impatient right now, forgive me, as the form refreshed without my initial writing: Pid, I don't appreciate your loose-logic, off-topic remark. Most patches from others that I've worked with thus far are indeed free, stable enough in a performance setting, and without fail blow my mind. What I...

Re: Max For Live Vendors?

True to form, 3dot, you've been immensely helpful. Yeah, maxforlive.com has a filter for excluding external links, but not the other way around. I like free, but knowing those solutions that are well-packaged and stable, with support or documentation, could really flesh out my performance template. ...

Max For Live Vendors?

Could you help me compile a list of developers who are selling m4l constructs? I know the maxforlive.com directory is great for sharing, and some download links send you to checkout on websites. But I think it would be great for ableton to feature on their blog or product page those vendeurs who are...

Re: Hand Held Field Recorder

Location audio guys in-the-know point me to the tascam, because it records line-level in a more straightforward manner than the zoom h4n-which for some reason I see more of on a set. If this additional performance is important for you, then consider the tascam

Yes, indeed, this is the prevailing and intended case. There's a good explanation from Robert Henke on why this is if you follow the original magic send threads.

Re: Expression Pedal CC values aren't 0-127

Interesting Erus, I have a resistance knob that I can adjust on the side of my m-audio EX-P pedal which will hook on to the full value range if set properly. Thing is, even this is only successful at making the pedal functional 1/10th of the time. I wonder if certain expression pedals are simply tha...

Re: Remote SL's Master Scene Launch on other Templates?

Yeah, I will probably break down and do that. Been resisting the idea as I'll probably overlook some detail when I rebuilt the template; I tend to not use the editor that much and even with it saved, I know a couple manual adjustments that I didn't back up will have me scratching my head. I'll try c...

Remote SL's Master Scene Launch on other Templates?

Hi, Posted this on Ableton community help, but thought I'd see what kind of audience I'd find here as well (if I overlooked the answer in some old post, feel free to include it in your response; I just looked, both under posts and topics): In Novation's natively supported instant map settings for mi...

Re: LiveAct / DJ SET: What Macbook Pro would be the best choice?

Hey man, looks like you're clear for take-off. I confirmed some research on the i5 vs i7. Unless you wait for another year or 2 when intel's layered chips come on the market, the i5 is like your GTI of chips or something to that effect-you'll get plenty of play. (Just don't drag against a ferrari). ...
