Get hold of a load of old funk 7inches and sample the drum break. Then get the quantise using something like Recycle and when you open the midi file in live you will notice that the blocks are never bang on, they will be slightly off and this is the thing you want, the human element. No drummer no m...

Edirol orchestra won't save settings

A friend of mine recently got hold of this plug and we have had some great fun playing with entire orchestras of sound. The one complaint we have and I fear that this is a newb problem that every time we save a live project and then open up the file again all the options are set back to default and ...

Was about to say the same, what difference does the a genre tag make? To me drum and bass is just a tag that makes it easy for us to talk about music and everyone be on the same page. Its moved on so much since the early 90's that, ok drums and bass are still 2 core elements but there are so many mo...

Been thinking about my top 5 drum and bass albums, not just the last five years liked you asked but hey here they are anyway in no particular order: Reprazent - New Forms London Elektricity - Live at the Scala L.T.J. Bukem - Logical Progression, Level 1 Calibre - Winter Sun Logistics - Now more than...

I was just searching the forum for Birmingham to see who was doing what. I live there and use Live to make drum and bass. I also DJ drum and bass and we have a nice little mix circle going on that tries to meet at least every fortnight. I would love to get involved in any Live events but I have not ...

I doubt I will ever need more than the 8 analogue outs but fair play I like the idea.

What bpm are you running at? I liked some of the ideas of mixing up the 2 genres, but I just didn't like your beats. There didn't feel like any human element to them which I find important when listening to and making drum and bass. I guess they are all totally programmed rather than actual breaks? ...

I have been reading reviews of these 2 all week at work (its been a little slow) and I really can't find much difference between them that will effect how I want to use it. I was put off the trigger finger slightly by the fact that I have a firewire410 and have never though the build quality was tha...

At 16 I played bass in a grunge band, influenced by the likes of Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Mud Honey etc. We were rubbish, well not exactly rubbish but we just never came together that well. The drummer and lead guitars where proper musicians while the rest of us were just along for the ride. It was fun b...

I only ever buy vinyl. Well that's not strictly true but I buy so little CDs that its hardly worth mentioning. I have been toying with the idea of getting a final scratch (or similar) so that I can start buying digital downloads instead.

I generally start in the session view and build up a few sounds, instruments and drums into a few loops. As I'm making them I tend to then get an idea of first arrangement and then record that live into the arrange view. I like to do it this way because of the happy accidents you get from "messing i...

I installed the live pack for the sampler but still don't have anything in my drop down folder.

If I go to prefs and the live packs tab, the sampler pack is listed as installed.

Any ideas? :(

Have been a fan since the beatbox one, but that drums and piano one is great. His other "video effect" type ones are great too, always just the right amount of 'what the fu*k'. :)
