Re: Ableton Audio Issue

Were your CPU meters spiking? If not, did you check the cables to make sure they were good? Usually to find the sources of such things requires a bit of deductive thinking. I sometimes get that with Ableton with high spikes of CPU usage. Try a test run yourself with a set of headphones, that way you'...

Re: Amp simulator recommendations

Thanks for the recommendations. I think after all the software based stuff I've tried, I'm just giving up on that route. Going to try a Sansamp GT2 and hope it works. My previous amp was a sweet sounding Gibson with class A tubes, and that is just not a sound easily replaced by software. If I had a ...

Amp simulator recommendations

I've done most my recording in the past with a miked up tube amp, but recently sold it. I have NI Guitar Rig, but I'm just not feeling the tone or vibe. I have additionally tried the native Ableton and Logic plugins, along with Amplitube, and I dislike those even more. Is there anything else out the...

Heavyocity Gravity

I just picked it up and I have to say that it is amazing. Best sound design library I ever used, and I'm just scratching the surface. And in case anyone is interested, it's 50% off at the Native Instruments site for a short time. It's so worth it. :D No I don't work for any of them, just sharing the...

Re: Xfer's LFO Tool sending MIDI out?

It will send MIDI out, but you need to use the IAC MIDI buss to do so. I got it working on my Mac and it is a great tool. So much better than the M4L LFOs.

Re: Latency only in certain sets

I do have a ton of Waves plugins going, but just channel strips and EQs. I disabled them, but it didn't change anything.

Latency only in certain sets

When I open a new project I have no latency, but when I open up a project I've been working on to track a new part there is bad latency. The buffer setting remains the same but acts different. Any solutions, or ideas why this is happening?

Re: Mac system opinions, please

Last week I just bought a 2014 MBP with a quadcore 2.5 and 512 Gb hard drive, 16 gig ram brand new for 1800$. I ordered it from B&H, and because I don't live in NY or NJ, I had no sales tax. So far, I'm really impressed with it and would highly recommend it. There is no real discernible difference b...

Re: File Management Issues That SHouldn't Be Happening

I have no solution, but I have to say the Abletons's file management is the worst I've ever seen in a DAW. It's absolute shit.

Ableton search missing file

How does this work? It seems like absolute garbage. I can point it to the folder and see the file clearly there and Ableton still won't find it. I can't figure out how to manually replace it. This is a breeze in Logic.

Scales and scl files

I am experimenting with alternative scales and am able to make scl files, but I don't understand how I can use them within Ableton or my audio units. Does anyone here have any experience with how to work with an scl file?

Re: 96Khz. Why?

Would the pixel analogy make more sense if we compared it to bit depth in audio rather than frequency range?

Re: Heavy Guitar Distortion

It seems like they put most elements on that album thru distortions. All the tools are in Ableton Suite. Use Overdrive, Saturator, Amp, Cabinet, Tube, Compression... All those will dirty up your sound. Look into how guitarists set up their effects chains. Run the synths and bass through them too. Ex...

Re: Music Production. Help me Please.

It takes years. 2 is not enough. Stop focusing on making a sample and making presets. Start working more on the fundamentals of a song, get a bass or guitar and learn to write a song on that first. It's all about fundamentals. From there, record your song as a rough take to a metronome, use it as a ...

Re: 96Khz. Why?

After reading more replies, I think I'm going to go 96k on my next album. Reason being, it's not EDM and I'm going for a more organic sound with dynamics. Plus I'm getting into the Monark synth and was not aware that it was meant for high sample rates. Plus, nobody listens to my music anyway so I do...
