Re: Ableton EQ Eight problem with mix downs

As others have said, there is nothing wrong with eq8. It is a well designed algo. 12db/oct is gentler and introduces less distortion. If you want 24db/octave high or low pass, eq3 works well. Multiband dynamics can also be used to do some (potentially very strange) eq things. That said, it is nice t...

Re: LIVE 8 PERFORMANCE TEST - Results Here

Comparing my results with Komodovaran's: 25% cpu vs 19% cpu = 31.6 % difference in Ableton cpu meter results! 8O That's weird. Also, I updated my version but it didn't change much. And AFAIK there are no 2.3 GHz versions of that model. Are you sure it's not 2.4 GHz? Sorry for double posting. Here a...

Re: LIVE 8 PERFORMANCE TEST - Results Here

I have basically the same setup as Komodovaran: 1. Ableton Live CPU Meter: Average 19%, min/max: 18-20% 2. Laptop/Desktop? Make/Model? Late 2011 MBP 15" 3. Operating System? 10.7.4 Lion 4. Ableton Live version? 8.3.2 5. CPU Make, Model, and Speed? 2.3 GHz Intel i7 quad core 6. Amount of Ram? 8 GB 7....

Re: connecting and recording Line 6 POD X3-question

Hi I record using Mac laptop+ Ableton DAW + Fireface 800 interface which has mutiple ins and outs, including balanced inputs, XLR inputs and a HIgh Z input. So, from my POD X3L to my Fireface interface, which connection? 1/4? XLR? If I use the 1/4, should I connect to the High Z input of my interfa...

Dub bass...I'd start with an EQ8 low pass. Add some compression.

Re: multi cpu machine

https://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=172654 It reports semi multicore support. i know ableton is multi core but is it multi cpu ? the new machine im looking at has two quad core cpu's, i need to know that ableton can use that before i buy a machine that could be complete overkill. From a s...

Re: routing audio of a drum rack to other midi tracks

looks like i need to learn the more advanced functions of the drum rack. on a separate note, say i have 4 different kicks drums on each drum rack pad, is there a way to trigger them simultaneously without having to play all 4 together on my midi keyboad? One simple way to do that is to drop an Inst...

Re: macbook pro / audio card m-audio / problem - time lag

When tracking I turn off almost all the effects What is meant by tracking? Turning tracks into audio tracks? Thank you all!) Tracking: recording clips, playing instruments im real time, like we used to do in the old days when we had multi track analog tape. Latency is critical during tracking. Mixi...

Re: macbook pro / audio card m-audio / problem - time lag

What you did is what is the standard method to decrease latency, what you may find as you go along, depending on how powerful your computer is, is that you have to increase latency at some point in the process (hopefully after you've finished all your midi recording) in order to have enough cpu res...

Re: macbook pro / audio card m-audio / problem - time lag

Hey guys, could you please clarify if I did right changing the amount of Samples in the Buffer Size? What does that mean? and why is the loeading exceeds 50%? is it normal? When you reduce the buffer size, you get lower latency but CPU usage increases. The overall CPU use depends mostly on how many...

Re: Recording bass - DI output to USB?

Yes, it's an XLR output on the amp - so would I be able to use a lead like this http://mobile.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?moduleno=225791 to record directly from the amp into AbletonLive? Maybe, but that might be for 'mic level' inputs only. Your DI might be too hot for it. I'd recommend getting a ful...

Re: Recording bass - DI output to USB?

The amp has a standard DI output. The only audio interface is my Roland SH-201 synth, but the input jacks on that are small jack 'audio in' inputs. I'm not sure that this would work. What type of audio interface do I need? Typical 'pro' amps will have XLR DI outputs, but not always. Some have 1/4" ...

Re: Recording bass - DI output to USB?

Usually I plug line outs into my audio interface. What type of output does your amp have? Most audio interfaces will have Xlr and 1/4 inch inputs.

Re: Izotope Ozone 5

The only Ozone feature I'm not sure how to achieve in Live is the Harmonic Exciter - any thoughts? I've tried using a little bit of Erosion and Saturator but haven't found something equivalent yet. But then I haven't looked into it in great detail so far, so there may well be Live settings that are...

Re: Is midi sync from ableton to external HW really this bad

Might be a midi routing issue creating duplicate clock messages (a midi echo). I've not had that problem with my hardware devices, although I tend to use them one at a time, recording the output.
