Re: How to change tempo in Midi Drum racks???

Sorry for the confusion but I am referring to a drum loop I sampled from an Al Green song. I warped it so I could be able to loop it, but when i play it I want for the drum loop to be a little slower. I tried a lot of things to try to slow it down including the "transpose" function but it's not wha...

Re: Is not using return tracks bad practice.

Yes - you could see them as an anachronism , and yet..... Anachronism? Yeah I suppose you could say that. However, all the analog mixers I have used supported both insert effects and aux send/returns. The big difference I see is that now you can make copies of your effects, which we couldn't do eas...

Try one or two of the ideas others have suggested if you get stuck.

Re: finally... BITWIG STUDIO! beta soon...

To those of you who insist that Bitwig must be Ableton in disguise, I'm sorry, but that's idiotic. Yeah, I was just trying to think of a way that the companies could be working together in some reasonable (if very unusual) way. Seems clear to me that bitwig's stuff is written from the ground up. Ru...

Re: finally... BITWIG STUDIO! beta soon...

Regarding bitwig being Live 9 - Maybe. I think at least there must be some agreement between the two companies. This is coming from a 20+ year software engineering veteran, FWIW. Most software companies (here in the US at least) have non-compete agreements preventing key employees from using proprie...

Re: compression on master channel

Another preset that works: "Mix Gel", there is some SC eq in it, IIRC. I use a threshold that gives maybe 2 or 3 db of compression. An alternative to a multiband compressor is the sidechain filter. Try a high pass filter if the bass is triggering too much compression. However, Like DJeeR and Dangero...

Re: Opinion needed - First composition with Ableton

Any opinions on the sound quality? Nothing sounds "wrong" or out of place to me, though I'm not sure what you are going for. The sounds are solid and full, good width. The drums get a little overwhelmed by the dubstep-y talking bass and the chord stabs, but again... maybe you're going for a 'drums ...

Re: One shot samples

Thanks sounded visor, I'm using 'sampler' but also have kontakt. I take it it's the same tedious process to change the length of the sample no matter which device I use and there is no quick solution? Typically a sampler will increase the pitch of a sample by playing it back at a higher sample rate...

Re: a little test re: sound-quality

I find them to be so very identical, that the only difference is the one I'm making up in my head from the stream of thoughts that vary every second. If you had never said they were different, I could be listening to the "same song" for all eternity. Now that I know they're different I will subcons...

Re: a little test re: sound-quality

B & C sound identical and with a little more presence and clarity in relation to A Yeah, I heard that _sometimes_, but then I'd listen again and it would evaporate. I even heard it as a slightly 'deeper' low end a few times. Maybe my ears are too old, or maybe my headphones are crap. "A" seemed to ...

They're identical. Phase inversion nulls them completely.

But quality-wise it sounds great. I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to say.
I found phase inversion does cancel a lot, but not completely. :)
