Re: Audio Export Longer than MIDI Clip

If this is a looped clip, this is likely why. Some effects (notably reverbs and delays) will add the trailing effects to a second pass through. This way you can start your audio clip both as a clean start, and also loop it having the trailing audio from the end of the loop going into the beginning. ...

Re: Live 8.3 FTW!

I'm glad to see continued progress in the application in general. No offense to you guys who are upset about the Soundcloud addition, but realize that not everyone uses Live to produce #1 Beatport hits. If it's functionality you don't care about, then please continue not caring - they didn't take aw...

Re: Will you use Automatic Updates in 8.3?

Like Tarekith, I haven't had many problems from upgrades, but I don't upgrade every version either. I personally would prefer to have the following or similar options: A) Do nothing, don't pester me with a pop up, etc. B) Quick version check on startup, if new version, popup with option to ignore pe...

Re: Ableton team up with Soundcloud

so does that mean live can finally export mp3, or will it upload 24 bit wav and totally bust my cap? To answer without clicking having to click that link, Soundcloud doesn't limit your account by file size, but instead play time. So you can upload .wavs all day long and it won't hurt your account m...

Re: Ableton team up with Soundcloud

Holy Bezus: If you’re registered for our newsletter, you’ll get an email in the next 2 weeks with your own personal download code for Ableton Live Lite 8. Not that there isn't an abundant supply of hardware you can buy and get Live Lite 8 with -- but wow -- lots of people who don't already have Live...

Re: This... Forum... Is.. dead.

I too feel the forum is dead: There has been a rampant decline of Live 9 speculation threads. Anything less than 200 new Live 9 threads a day is a clear sign of decline. Anyway, I agree, most tracks on the "Listen to my music!" section don't get much playtime and views. And many of the tracks are de...

A track made from using a recent Ableton Blog technique

Hello, I just wanted to share a track I burped out last night. I saw the "Glitch Hop" video on the Ableton Blog, followed along using DCAM for my synth, and ended up having a blast triggering small sample clips. I'm used to working almost strictly from programmed synths, so jamming to these clips in...

Re: hihats and cymbals are.....problematic

As a few examples, I'll just pop some Beatport links, because it's easy to find a variety. Ride cymbal after the breakdown: http://www.beatport.com/track/always-something-for-nothing-original-mix/3313533 And the same: http://www.beatport.com/track/bamboo-original-mix/3242937 A more clubby example: h...

Re: hihats suck

Sorry for raising this thread from last month, but I figured it's better than starting a new thread that is titled "Ride Cymbals Suck" lol. So I'm listening to some tracks right now, and I started feeling Ride Hat Envy. All of these groovin' tracks have such pronounced ride hats, but they are not ov...

Re: Question about midi mapping in Ableton?

Not without using an external midi translator. You can map a single control to multiple parameters, but not multiple controls to a single parameter. I'm pretty certain that something like Bome's Midi translator can handle this if you must.

Re: reason essentials sale

those were the years of infamous "Reason sound" stigma, True this good sir. I just felt the need to stick up for the software in general, as while it may not be very powerful at that low level, It's a fair deal to get started... After going through the shock of paying through the nose for other too...

Re: Keyboard shortcut question.

Ahh. Instead of double clicking, I like to use the pen tool at the level I intend my ramp to end at, and then it's easy to just move a point down. This way you don't have to worry about "Did I get that split to start right on time?"

Re: James Blake vocal effect? (Lindisfarne)

Probably a combination of Vocoder as suggested above, and chorus maybe? If you aren't familliar with how to make a vocoder work, I learned from this page years ago: http://sonictransfer.com/vocoder-tutorial-ableton-live.shtml The concepts used on that page related to Orange Vocoder in Live, but the ...

Re: Folder structure for Ableton on Win 7

As I've learned, Ableton Live 8 does not store all the original and modified content of a project within the project folder. I collaborate with a friend via Dropbox, and we have to select File > Collect All and Save. From here you can choose if you collect all samples, or just samples not from the ...
