Re: Moving through chain selector with two MIDI buttons

I appreciate the help, #1thelark. Here's how it's set up now: -- An instrument rack with 5 chains, each an instrument -- Two buttons that launch clyphx clips to move chain selector +1/-1 ("7/dev1 cs <" and "7/dev1 cs >") This works, and I can select next or previous instrument using two buttons. How...

Re: Moving through chain selector with two MIDI buttons

Hmm, I've encountered an issue with this approach. I've mapped two MIDI buttons to launch clips that +1/-1 though the chain selector. However, MIDI CC & program change messages from the keyboard affect not only the selected chain but all chains. So, now I'm trying to find a way to mute all other cha...

Re: Moving through chain selector with two MIDI buttons

I see, that's useful also, to be able to name which track receives the command.

Your solution worked perfectly, thank you. I'll be digging into Clyphx to see what else it can do.

Filter MIDI program change / CC only to active chain

Hi All, I have an instrument rack, and I select through instruments using the chain selector. I noticed that program change and CC messages from the keyboard affects all chains, not just the chain that's selected. Is there a way to filter MIDI program change & CC, so they only affect the currently s...

Re: Moving through chain selector with two MIDI buttons

Thank you, #1thelark! Clyphx looks like a very handy utility for many purposes. I installed it, turned it on as a control surface, and followed your instructions. I named a clip "[] DEV CS <" and launched it, but the chain selector on the track isn't responding. Would you have any idea why it wouldn...

Switch though instruments with two MIDI buttons

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew if/how this is possible. I have an instrument rack with a few synthesizers, and I would like to use two MIDI buttons (+/-) to go through the chain selector one by one. For example, the forward button would increment +1, the back button -1, moving through the list o...

"All Notes Off" Command from MIDI clip

For some reason, I've started to experience MIDI notes getting stuck occasionally. For a quick fix, I wanted to have a clip ready to be launched, that would issue the All Notes Off command, CC 120, I believe. However, in the envelope box, I can only send CC up to 119. Has anyone found a work around ...

Re: Webcam theremin with MotionMod and Operator

I found the original article that the above patch came with: Use a webcam to turn motion into music (from vol 4 of MAKE magazine) And the download of original package by Peter Kirn: http://makezine.com/04/diy_airscratch/ I'm still working on making the patch work in Live. It's been a learning proces...

Re: Webcam theremin with MotionMod and Operator

Thanks for the interesting reply, stoersignal. I'm a beginner at Max, and I've just been exploring available devices built by other people. On one hand, I don't want to invest too much time in programming, but the more I learn, the more I'm attracted by the possibilities of Max for multimedia produc...

Re: Webcam theremin with MotionMod and Operator

OK, I found a way to convert parameter value to MIDI notes, using an M4L device called zb.controlThresh: "It takes a slider as its input and generates MIDI notes based on the slider's motion." I just routed the output of MotionMod to its slider, then to Operator. The result is getting closer to a th...

Webcam theremin with MotionMod and Operator

Hello, I have an Operator set up to sound like a theremin, and I would like to control it using an M4L device I found called MotionMod. However, I'm having difficulty sending data from one to the other. MotionMod takes webcam input, converts the movement in real-time into an output number, and sends...

Re: Real-time vocal pitch harmonizer

Thanks, ned rush, for the link. I was interested, watched the whole thing but the result at the end was not quite what I expected. The re-pitched sound is very machine-like, which some people may be able to use, but for my purpose I would like the result to sound as close to the original vocal as po...

Re: Real-time vocal harmonizer, alternative to Vocal Transformer

After a couple weeks of searching, it seems that for a professional-level vocal harmonizer, I'd best look at commercial software, something like what theophilus suggested. For my purpose, this seems to fit the bill: http://www.antarestech.com/products/harmony_engine.shtml Controlling the harmonized ...

Re: Real-time vocal harmonizer, alternative to Vocal Transformer

Ooh, a "real-time polyphonic pitch processor". It does sound like what I need. I appreciate the tip, theophilus, thanks. Reading deeper into what it does, as impressive as the software is, it's a bit much in terms of price and features for my purpose. It can take individual sounds out of a mixed sig...

Re: Real-time vocal harmonizer, alternative to Vocal Transformer

Thanks for the tip, 3dot...! I saw this neat video on vocoder
a couple weeks ago, but didn't think about using it for my purpose.
I wonder how "natural" the altered vocal can sound.

I'll experiment and post the result.
