even if no 'why' can possibly be justified, i do hope they find out motive before the guy gets riddled or blows himself up

Is it possible to prove that consciousness is reserved only for that which is considered alive? I was reading an article about how it has been discovered that plants have a certain degree of consciousness and it got me thinking. The concept of matter having consciousness is a ridiculous concept but...
