how to record original keyboard sounds?

since i've had a keyboard longer than ableton, i've found some cool sounds in it that i dont want to change when using it in ableton. how can i record MIDI from a source and record the same sounds (or as a second best option, how do i record a MIDI instrument as audio in ableton) ? thanks this forum...

i know there're other programs that can do this (probably audacity?), but is there a way to use a video file as a REAL_TIME input for an audio track? if there's a way to be playing a video (on, say VLC or winamp), then when a nice bit of dialogue or atmospheric sound comes up, hit record, it'd be pr...

missing samples, i need more samples

for some reason, many of the samples included with ableton seem to be missing. they appear in the folder view, but when i click em they make no sound thankfully most still work). where can i download replacements, and also other samples? also if you have any really good, specific ones, it'd be great...

is it really "the nature of the beast"? i wonder, can anyone get absolute realtime playback from midi instruments? for that to happen the computer and associated hardware must be able to predict what you are about to play, and then play it before you do. That's not going to happen any time soon ;) ...

question: aren't desktops better in a way, since they can have much higher-res screens?
laptops usually arent higher than 1068x or so.. its nicer to have more screen space.
are there any pc laptops or macbooks with high-res screens?

yeah, i hate having to keep an mp3 converter handy, it adds another step in the whole process. besides, guitar pro can do it so why not Live?

i'm a complete newb, but isnt the proper way to just delete all the silent time? and then stretch it (quantize?)to fit the timeframe exactly.
