is it really "the nature of the beast"? i wonder, can anyone get absolute realtime playback from midi instruments? i've seen some demo vids where the composer plays stuff and composes on-the-fly, but it seems like it'd be impossible with latency. as it is, i just play stuff with monitoring off, list...

if by presets you mean the sampler/ simpler instruments, yea. i start with those and screw around with the parameters until it sounds different, then use my keyboard to do the rhthyms/melodies (but most of that, due to latency issues, actually takes place in the midi note editor view)... so yea. tha...

no way.

ableton is just as complicated as any previous production technique, especially since standards are much higher in most fields now.

besides that, most laypeople still lack the interest, motivation, patience, and creavitity to both utilize a DAW like Ableton and produce unique audio.

i went with the "honest" choice, since making music that others enjoy too is far far more enjoyable than making music that I alone appreciate (although i dont have extremely unique taste in sounds so that'd be impossible anyway).

downgetting it. id like to thank god, smashed hat, jesus, my family, rick the producer, and G the Savage, yo. now that the file is available, perhaps the thread title could change to "artists' ableton live packs" ... if there are any besides this, that is. (and if not, we must start petitioning for ...

latency makes composing impossible :(

i tried my best to get latency down. its at 97ms, but when i play its still extremely noticeable (and probably more than 97ms, too). HOW IN THE WORLD can anyone compose melodies or rhythms using MIDI with such latency? So far the only solution i have has been to record an extremely simple few second...

thanks. yes, record enabling is checked. how can i solve this feedback problem, please? it seems weird that sounds playing through the speakers would be interpreted as input by Live, when it is sounds played through my preamped bass/guitar plugged into the soundcard's line-in jack that i want Live t...

recording instruments, not midi?

how is this done in Live? i've watched the tutorial vids and checked the relevant sections of the manual... now its for the forums. details: a preamped guitar (bass, actually) is plugged into the line-in on the soundcard. i can hear the sounds it makes when Live is on, but recording does nothing. wh...
