Re: Vocoder and MIDI track volume help

No, your XiFi has its own mixer to adjust what's coming in through its inputs. It may just be in the SoundVol icon in your system tray, or there may be a mixer app.

Re: Vocoder and MIDI track volume help

If your dry vocal is too loud, then turn off input monitoring. Between that and using full wet, you shouldn't hear any dry vocal at all. Crank up the depth and play with the dormant knob.

Your CPU doesn't need to be spiking to experience latency. Might be latency.

Re: Vocoder and MIDI track volume help

Does your creative XiFi have input monitoring turned on? Also make sure your dry/wet control in the vocoder is turned to wet.

So far Direct Link has been working just fine for me. Did you download the latest version? I'm using Axiom25 on a PC.

Re: splitting bassline

this is all you need http://rhythminmind.net/1313/?p=43 4 bands transparent splitter rack I've been looking at these racks and admit I don't understand why it would be considered more effective than using the multiband compressor approach (if you only need three bands like I am using). Also, could ...

Re: splitting bassline

You can also use a rack with three chains of EQ3. Of course EQ3 is not transparent, but you may like it. With the 24dB slope and some overlap, there shouldn't be any notching. If you want more transparency, you could try the same thing with EQ8 or a VST EQ of your choosing.

Re: MIDI/ Sustain Pedal Woes

You can indeed manually draw an automation envelope for the pedal, but consider recording a bar of silence, starting on the second bar, adjusting the automation for the first beat, then trimming the clip. Easier than drawing it all manually, I think

Re: What is bussing?

thanks, would that be like putting audio or midi to a return track. or what are other instances is such "bussing" occurring? thank you, MadAnthony A return track is a type if buss. Your Master track is also a buss, in that it sums multiple audio sources together. There are many uses and reasons for...

I misunderstood, then. I was thinking he wanted to modulate it a bit.

Change the clip warping to transpose (or whatever it's called), and automate the transpose knob.

Re: Mastering: Levels & Eq on Multiple Tracks Question

Short answer to the OP: Don't master your songs as you mix them, or worse, as you're creating them. A little light compression with a slow attack on the master bus will glue things nicely. After you've mixed and exported all your tracks, bring them all into a new, mastering session. Master them all ...

Re: Performing live with a drummer

I tried several ways of using tap tempo to sync to my drummer, and all failed I mapped one of my pads to TT, but whenever I tried to resync, the resulting audio comedy threw off my drummer's timing even worse. I had the dame result using a key mapped on the laptop. Then I built a momentary footswitc...

Re: effect and stuff

I'm unsure of exactly what you are looking for. It kinda sounds like you want to record the effect full wet - no dry signal so you can mix it later. This is easy to do: create a new audio track, set the source to your track with the FX (make it post FX). In your FX, make them 100% wet. Play your tra...

Re: Tip for compression

What I tend to do with hats, conversely, is gate them off the snare with only 2-3 dB of gain reduction, so they "hit" a little harder with snare.

Edit: This would be last in the effects chain.
