Re: Anyone else find the Push 2 unplayable?

I'm wondering, do you all think this is a firmware issue that could be fixed? Or is it part of the hardware, and I need to send this thing back while I still can? I strongly suspect it's a firmware issue. Programming microcontrollers to read the state of buttons and encoders, update the LEDs and th...

Re: Still ridiculous 8 bar limit?

I do admit, it'd be nice for step sequencing if you could scroll. Well, you can. If you've set a clip (loop) length for something longer than 16 bars, you can use the page buttons to access the bars beyond 16. That said, it's pretty easy to lose track of where you are in the clip, so it's not ideal...

Re: Still ridiculous 8 bar limit?

I work with a lot of song material, and a lot of it is in 16 bars. The 8 bar limit on Push crippled my music-making, so I haven't really used it much. Has this limitation been removed now? Can Push handle 16 bars? You can set any clip length you want by pressing the Clip button and using the Loop L...

Re: Anyone else find the Push 2 unplayable?

...The Push 2 pads are sometimes unresponsive, or have a significant delay. Has anyone else had similar issues? ... Yes, I've noticed these things and I'm trying to find ways to reproduce them so I can submit them to support. They happen very seldom in normal use. 1. Occasional full velocity notes ...

Re: No velocity in step sequencer?

...it's so much nicer to get velocity based grooves on things like shakers by tapping them in, rather than going back and manually editing the velocity for each note by holding down a pad like you currently have to. Why not use the Repeat function? That gives you velocity variations based on pressu...

Re: Push 2 LED Colors: no red?

Just guessing, but perhaps it's because pure red is reserved for showing active notes while recording.

Re: Loop Length

In melodic sequencer, if i want to record a clip that is longer than the 8 bars, how can I increase that length prior to recording in Push 2? I mean i can stipulate the length with the 8 top pads, but what if i want to change that to 16. So, quasi 2 pages so to speak. IF that makes sense. Press the...

What a great first contribution to the forum from me, I apologise. I was wrong. Well, don't beat yourself up over it; that's our job. :) You actually bring up a good point. People SHOULD thoroughly test their Push 2 when they get it. The pad buttons and lights under the labeled buttons are pretty e...

Re: Ableton Push 2 teardown

Well, that pretty much confirms what I suspected all along. Push2 is alien technology brought to earth by benevolent beings who appreciate quality.

Thank you Markus Fuller and thank you Ableton! :D

Re: Push 2 is stuck on logo screen

Yesterday mine was due to the USB not being fully in... Same here. When my Push2 arrived, I first tried using a USB cable that was already plugged into my hub. It LOOKED like it was fully plugged in, and it FELT like it was fully plugged in, but things weren't working. So I switched to the cable su...

Set default note duration for Push melodic step sequencer

In Push's melodic step sequencing mode, I can use the Scene/Grid buttons to set how many notes per measure I want. However, for each setting, new notes sustain for the full duration of their time slot in the measure. E.g. if I pick 4 notes per measure by hitting the 1/4 button, each note entered sus...

Re: Set default note length for melodic step sequencing?

OK, let's see if I can be a bit more clear. :-) I'm in melodic step sequencing mode. I hit the 1/8 button, so I have 8 steps per measure. By default, each note I enter sustains for the entire duration of its step. I don't want that. I want each of the 8 notes to only sustain for the duration of a 1/...

Set default note length for melodic step sequencing?

When doing melodic step sequencing with Push (1 or 2), is there a way to set the default note length for new notes? I know I can adjust the length of individual notes either as I add them or after they've been added, but that's tedious for patterns of more than a few notes.

https://www.ableton.com/en/manual/using-push-2/ Note that it's not a seperate manual, but it's own chapter in the manual. Saw a few people were having issues finding this though, so figured I'd link it for you. WEll worth a read. I hope they'll update the downloadable PDF manual soon. Chapter 28 in...
