Re: Why do YOU choose Ableton?!

Why do YOU choose Ableton over another DAW? What do you get from Ableton that you wouldn't get from ProTools, Logic, FL, ETC! 1. Session view. It's a huge help to me at the beginning when I don't really know where a song is going yet. It makes it very easy to try out different things and variations...

Re: What's going on? Recording latency and track delay

Just for the record, I got an answer from an RME user.... Ableton records midi and audio differently depending on whether you choose monitoring "OFF" or "IN"/"AUTO" if set to "off" it will recording, it shifts events early according to buffer size latency because it assumes you are monitoring direc...

Re: MacPro video Ableton content?

I signed up for their monthly plan back when I was still rather new to Live. I found their content to be accurate, reasonably complete for the most part, and well produced. It's definitely a cut above most YouTube tutorials. The individual videos are usually focused on one feature or topic, so if yo...

Re: Drum rack VCA???

Click on the Show/Hide Devices button on the left side of the drum rack to show the instrument for a particular pad. For audio samples, it's a Simpler, for other sounds, it might be some other synth. There's your ADSR control.

Re: noise

If it's happening consistently, it may be that your buffer size setting is too low. That's in Preferences on the Audio tab in about the middle of the page. There are instruction for how to find the best buffer size setting in the "Audio I/O" lesson in the help view in Live (although curiously, not i...

Re: being creative

It seems like every time I lose faith that there are actual creative human beings on this forum because of all the whining and moaning and name calling that goes on, someone comes up with a post like this or Tarekith's "throwing paint" that keeps me coming back. Thanks for posting that link. I ident...

Re: Major/Minor option

Does one see the macro controls for that rack? The first one is labeled Major / Minor. One would set it to 0 for major chords, and 127 for minor chords. :D

Re: Dfault midi clip length

I don't know of a way to change the default, but if you're on Live 9 and want an empty clip of 2, 4, 8, 16, etc. bars, after creating the empty clip you can just hit the "Dupl. loop" button in the Notes section of the Clip View. It duplicates the clip every time you press it, doubling the total leng...

Re: Auditioning Sounds from Push - Is it Possible?

Yep, it's possible, but it's a little obscure until you figure out the trick. Here's what works for me in Live 9.0.2. 1. On a new track, hit [Browse], then select "Drum Rack" and find the drum rack you want to start with. For example "Core Library" - "Kit...606". Hit the rightmost green button in th...

Re: Thoughts on Push by those who have it now?

I've had my Push for a few days now and have spent some quality time getting to know it a little better. Here are my first impressions. - It's darned good looking (but then, there's no accounting for taste... ;) ) - It's bigger than I thought it would be. I was expecting something a little bigger th...

Re: Some pads have a light blue hue to them...anyone else?

Yeah, it seems to be a common thing. Mine has a few pads that are a bit purplish and some that look a little greenish. Under each pad are LEDs in red, green, and blue colors. To get white, they turn on all three colors. As I understand it, the problem is that different LEDs can vary in brightness fo...

Re: Guitar Center orders

Mine arrived direct from Ableton's US distributor yesterday. The plastic bag containing the unit was not tightly wrapped, but it did have one bit of tape holding it closed. There was no removable screen protector on the display, but the display was totally clean. No obvious marks or smudges on the c...

Off to a good start :D [...] I tried to make something Ambient this weekend, but according to your definition as outlined above, I may have failed. If you have 3 mins then have a listen, I would appreciate some feed back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YS4yz4bTx5I As you said, off to a good start! ...

Re: Who is actually happy with the direction Ableton is going?

What I mean is that starting with Live 8 and the APC new functions have been added to the remote control scripts [...] Now all this functionality could be documented and made available for us all through user configuration scripts.but that isn't what has happened. [...] Ah, I see. Thanks for clarif...
