Re: Can anybody with 8 send me one of the effects?

Assuming you didn't delete your Live 8 library when you updated, it should still be there. On my system it's in Places > Live 8 Library > Presets > Audio Effects > Audio Effects Rack > Performance & DJ > Fat Fire Beat.

Re: Clip Pan Envelope missing?

Has this moved somewhere new? Yeah. What were clip "Pan" (or "Track Panning") envelopes in Live 8 are now "Track Panning Modulation" envelopes in Live 9. At least, that's what clip pan envelopes become when you open a Live 8 project in Live 9. Track Panning Modulation envelopes vary the panning rel...

Re: when 'distribute samples equally' .... doesn't.

I am importing a number of samples (74) into my Sampler, going to Zone, then Sel, highlighting all samples, and choosing Distribute All Samples Equally. And then what happens is the first 19 samples are all more crowded together in the sample selection range than the rest. Then they sort of spread ...

Re: Ableton 9.0.2 Slow Startup

I was wondering, do you guys have any problems opening Ableton 9.0.2 (32 Bit) on Mac (Mountain Lion)? It takes 5-10 minutes to open the program. Anyone know what the problem is? Thanks! Not an apples-to-apples comparison, but for reference, it takes about 28 seconds to open 32 bit Live 9.0.3 to the...

Re: stuckness, progress, slowness and so on

Once in a while a track more or less writes itself. Isn't it the best feeling in the world when that happens? When something else takes over and you simply can't make a mistake and it all comes pouring out. But most often, in my experience, I have a dozen promising ideas... in search of a direction...

Re: Why do YOU choose Ableton?!

Why do YOU choose Ableton over another DAW? What do you get from Ableton that you wouldn't get from ProTools, Logic, FL, ETC! 1. Session view. It's a huge help to me at the beginning when I don't really know where a song is going yet. It makes it very easy to try out different things and variations...

Re: What's going on? Recording latency and track delay

Just for the record, I got an answer from an RME user.... Ableton records midi and audio differently depending on whether you choose monitoring "OFF" or "IN"/"AUTO" if set to "off" it will recording, it shifts events early according to buffer size latency because it assumes you are monitoring direc...

Re: MacPro video Ableton content?

I signed up for their monthly plan back when I was still rather new to Live. I found their content to be accurate, reasonably complete for the most part, and well produced. It's definitely a cut above most YouTube tutorials. The individual videos are usually focused on one feature or topic, so if yo...

Re: Drum rack VCA???

Click on the Show/Hide Devices button on the left side of the drum rack to show the instrument for a particular pad. For audio samples, it's a Simpler, for other sounds, it might be some other synth. There's your ADSR control.

Re: noise

If it's happening consistently, it may be that your buffer size setting is too low. That's in Preferences on the Audio tab in about the middle of the page. There are instruction for how to find the best buffer size setting in the "Audio I/O" lesson in the help view in Live (although curiously, not i...

It seems like every time I lose faith that there are actual creative human beings on this forum because of all the whining and moaning and name calling that goes on, someone comes up with a post like this or Tarekith's "throwing paint" that keeps me coming back. Thanks for posting that link. I ident...

Does one see the macro controls for that rack? The first one is labeled Major / Minor. One would set it to 0 for major chords, and 127 for minor chords. :D

Re: Dfault midi clip length

I don't know of a way to change the default, but if you're on Live 9 and want an empty clip of 2, 4, 8, 16, etc. bars, after creating the empty clip you can just hit the "Dupl. loop" button in the Notes section of the Clip View. It duplicates the clip every time you press it, doubling the total leng...
