Re: How to choose a key when you compose a song ?

login it sounds like you are confusing key with scale as if it were the same thing. What you say is true, that the different scales and modes have different flavors and feelings. It becomes even more magical when you discover that each of those scales and modes will have a different feel for each of...

Re: current 9.7._ the most unstable in YEARS

I need to start documenting it. Off the top of my head: I have non time-synced warped/looped clips acting erratically (randomly changing warp modes and seq.BPM and only after numerous clickings and back and forth until I think I'm crazy, then all of a sudden it behaves right and looks right). GUI gl...

current 9.7._ the most unstable in YEARS

You guys had it rock solid. I stopped saving previous versions it was so good. 9.2 and 9.6 just worked flawlessly. I updated to 9.7 trusting. Warning bells should have gone off when it was "You can never go back" for any newly created sets. I am on 9.7.1 and it is not what it used to be. Come on guy...

Re: How to choose a key when you compose a song ?

Play the first chord. Does it feel good or just so-so? Try it another key. Any difference in how it feels? Try another and another if it doesn't feel good yet. Don't go in order downward or upward when trying different keys. Jump around randomly. Some keys just feel different depending on the chord ...

Re: Komplete Kontrol integration totally flawed?!

KK and S-series keyboards have so much potential and are wonderful in many ways, but I have to throw away 70% of my ideas and create workarounds. I also cannot use the track navigate buttons. When I am recording multiple tracks, track navigation will un-arm my recording tracks. Someone described the...

Re: Amon Tobin Fools Rhythm

Rhythmically, the "bass" notes are not on the beat, but are late or after the beat or have a considerably long attack.

Re: Studio One

I think it's a great, forwardish thinking DAW.. but not having undo in the mixer is a deal breaker for me. Maybe I'm spoiled, I dunno. But I like it when I press cmd/ctrl + 'z' and it undoes whatever I just did, regardless of what or where. This. As soon as they implement mixer undo, I will move to...

Re: Time signature issue

Maybe try 6/8. In essence the same thing as 3/4 but might feel different with the metronome.

Re: Producers, Name your Problems with making beats

Yeah, most hi hat parts/rhythms are WAY too fucking loud. Make 'em almost disappear. And the snare is TOO LOUD.

Re: Ableton Live 9.7.1 - clicks - pops - nasty sounds

Maybe that was me with the 3k Macbook. I had bought a 2015 maxed-out new MBP from Apple with Sierra on it. My 2011 with Yosemite and Live 9 played Omni and Komplete at 64 samples without any dropouts or pops. The 2015, no matter what I tried could not do it. I thought it was Sierra and a last ditch ...

Re: Anyone using MBP2015/Sierra with success?

Well, Yosemite clean install did not help at all.
I must have lemon!
Or is it possible that the 2015 just can't handle low latency audio as well as the older models?
Returning this beauty for for a refund today. Crazy.
Thanks for the GFX Card Status tip.

Re: Anyone using MBP2015/Sierra with success?

"Do you really need to run it @64 samples?" Yes. The keyboard response is more immediate and more musically inspiring. 128 is passable as long as I'm playing rubato or very slow tempos. "Maybe using an older os would help, I don't know. From my tests Live runs a little bit better on el capitan than...

Re: Anyone using MBP2015/Sierra with success?

Deleting preferences file so far has helped immensely (thanks Daniel from support. Wish I thought of this a week ago). Was able to play 20 minutes straight with zero pops/dropouts. Then the problem came back slightly. Why would resetting Live in this way effect the CPU's ability to handle low latenc...
