I'd usually do those kind of things once I've recorded to arrangement view and use automation to get the parameters where you need them and when.

have you tried automating in the clip envelopes if you want to keep it in session view?

You need to master the cowbell first, everything else is secondary. :D Are you going to make Reggae or Hip Hop? make the music you like to make. if you like Hip Hop you;ll have listened to enough of it to know what you like and how it sounds. Then you need to try and emulate those sounds. At the sam...

Have you read the manual yet???

You need the section on audio preferences to learn how to select your external soundcard as your input source for starters.

The midi is being recognised in Live, but the message being sent is not being mapped to the button. You need to read the manual for your oxygen8, to see what type of midi messages it sends. If it was sending say a CC message 22 on midi channel 1, then when you enter midi map and click on the play bu...

Just map a key to your effect on/off if the problem is being caused by an effect, or a rotary to release on the instrument as Hoffman says

In what circumstance do you find it an issue though? :?

Render the midi clips to audio so you can detach the synth and then automate your volume in Live.

Not a mixer, a decent external soundcard with pre-amps on board. you can go straight in via your onboard soundcard of course, but you'll find the results disappointing. Applying the SISO rule, you need a decent soundcard designed for musicla instrument input to computers in order to hear decent resu...

Don't get hung up on your macbook pro santa rosa. It's a powerful computer used by a huge amount of people for music. It is not part of your problem. Also, the cost of your soundcard probably does reflect it's quality but even cheaper soundcards should be able to handle one guitar input through ampl...

I have a macbook, I go in through my Motu into Live running GR2 as a plug-in, with perfectly acceptable latency.

No problems here.

Live was the very best thing about getting an M-Audio Black Box. Took me awhile to figure it out but once the light went on I was more into Live than my guitar or the Box. I dialed-in a Korg49, re-started piano lessons and played very little else for a couple years. Lately tho' I'm back at it. I pl...
