Guys, buy FLStudio for the bridge and use the FLStudio VST in Live 8 and bridge the hell out of your plugins.

There won't be an inbuild bridge. Get over it.

he surely meant "no VST usage when using Live rewire SLAVED".

I'd like to know wether this is a technical restriction/problem/issue, or by design?

The APC40 does automap to plug-ins just like Live devices. You just ned to configure the parameters in the device first if there are many parameters. Only difference to Live's devices are that you decide the order of parameters. But it's quick and easy and you can save it as a rack for future use. ...

But one device writing, one or more reading is thread save at least?
May be writing to queue in one device and constantly emptying the queue in the reading devices every 20ms or so will ensure ordering?

Here's hope, read somewhere that max/msp v6.1 (x64) might be ready when L9 launches...

Noone expected FL Studio to go x64 so "soon" and suddenly there's a working beta/alpha already...
