Re: Synths that allow user waveforms?

I do like kontakt, especially the pro53 filter, i find it super tasty for bass, and it does have a ton of cool stuff you can do. I also really enjoy the simplicity of simpler and sampler and I use them for pretty much everything but i just grow tired of the sound of their filters. Looking at alchemy...

Synths that allow user waveforms?

So im wondering if anyone could tell me of any VST synths that allow you to import .wav files into them as oscillators? The only ones that I know of that do this are Alchemy and Absynth, but i have tried them out and found that they can get way too complicated for my needs. Ive had someluck so far u...

Re: Help! Nearly all Ableton's native effects causing clipping!?

While all of your posts are relevant, the problem at hand has not been addressed. I have stated before that this is happening when levels are at -6 db. Please read carefully: The problem lies within the ableton effects. For example: When I load an ableton instrument, the levels will be at -6 db. Wh...

Patches and Banks

Could anyone help clear up something for me? Ive gotten into the habit recently of saving any presets for plugins that I end up using in tracks, for future reference and so on. A couple of things I cant seem to get my head arond with Live are this... Sometimes with VST's, presets are listed in the s...

Re: All the little detail problems with Ableton Live Collection

3phase, could I ask you a non biaaed question? im genuinely interested in your answer, and I place no pre or post judgment upon it, there are a few things that puzzle me about this thread. You seem to work with Live alot, and I think it is remarkable that you have spotted alot of points about lives ...

Organic Synth Sounds

Im wondering what kind of things people do to get their synths to sound more organic. Ive been playing around with synths for a few years now and I'd im pretty confident in what most of the controls do, but i seem to be struggling to take a step back and connect all the dots. Most of the sounds I cr...

Re: am I trying to run my Genelec 8030a's too loud?

Some good points raised here, I guess the key is how loud you are trying to drive them, i.e. what your perception of "loud" is. I personally have never come across a pair of genelecs that distort the bass pre red led clip. Ive never used 8020s but my 8040s go way louder than id ever need and havn't ...

Re: am I trying to run my Genelec 8030a's too loud?

well where are the speakers placed in relation to the corners and walls? Its always best to have them set up to fire down the longest axis of the room for a start. In terms of placement, the tweeters should be at eye level, and the speakers should be placed as close as possible to an equilateral tri...

Re: am I trying to run my Genelec 8030a's too loud?

Genelec's are top quality monitors... If you cant get decent bass out of them unless you have to crank them so they start to clip (i.e. green light turns red) then your doing something wrong. First thing to do would be to take the software limiter off the synth and see if that makes a difference. If...

Ive recently moved into a new house with another musician, and im running a desktop pc with a firewire audio interface. Maximizing performance with multiple drives..

Hi folks, so im going to be upgrading to windows 7 in the next few weeks, and im just wondering what the most effective way of spreading my data around would be. im a cajon player and often record it and play live with it mic'd. From my experience id say the sm57 is the way to go. Its not the cleanest sound in the world but to be fair a cajon should be nice and dirty i reckon! You can also do a cool trick for getting pseduo basslines from it. If you chuck th...
