Re: ableton needs to be half the price
Sure other programs have lots of "stuff" but what I like about live is the way it works at its core, not all the other flashy features bundled in various daws - I for one always prefer to pay more for a high quality tool that works well for me, than some do all, marketing hype, extravanganza - plus ...

Re: Does Live take advantage of 8 cores?
Does anyone know if "group" mode in Live 8 is any more effecient tan the send system on Live 7???? I could get by with a lot less send if groups are well implemented...

Re: Does Live take advantage of 8 cores?
I have to agree with Lofa - here is response I posted in a similar thread: Well I have an 8-core 2.8 mac pro and the performance is not good at all - I use live mainly for tracking and mixing bands these days, which means I need to use a lot of sends - even with all tracks frozen and the returns run...

Hey mr leeds, I think that solacerodgers is referring to the Ableton audio paper that came out (last year???) in which they discuss bussing and levels in general - the info from the ProTools world does probably apply to PTLE, but it work on 48bit fixed math which may be the reason for the conflictin...

Mac Pro 8-core not used by Live to full potential
I have a baseline mac pro 8 core (2.8l with 4 gigs of ram . I have been doing some tests with Live 7 and I am getting clicks and pops after adding about 50 Altiverbs at a 512 buffer size with a motu ultralite. Activity monitor only shows about 55% of the 8 cores being utilized with the system using ...

Works fine for me - I like it a lot and I have had several (korg microkontrol, etc) midi controllers - I have found it hard to find use for the jogs as they send a rather "loose" signal for controlling things like a filter, but they are cool for triggering samples. I do really like the feel of thing...

Thanks for the very interesting and though provoking article...the reaction from some posters just goes to show how little people like to actually think - some people just need to see the world in black & white and can't stand all the grey area where most real history occured - I think that the arti...
