Re: I have made a mistake selecting Ableton

This first post, sorry, looks a hell like trolling. Ableton has a huge support team and it is known for its great efficiency. What you describe sounds like a user who don’t take the time to understand how a software works but blames the software rather than trying out a bit of humility, a deep brea...

Re: Easier to see grid lines

Grid lines in Live are already too faint and therefore hard to see. They don't stand out against the background. There's another problem: when moving or stretching items while holding down the Alt key (freehand mode), the grid lines go even fainter (they are almost invisible). If you are trying to ...

Re: STILL NO COMPING?!

I'm starting to learn Reaper now which has comping. Once I get the hang of it I'll probably try to switch. I tell myself that too. Reaper for doing audio work (recording/mixing, probably even audio looping) is superb and better than alot of other DAWS. Its midi though while powerful is pretty chaot...

Re: Beat Match In Ablteton using Warp

Hi, Can anyone please tell me how I can beat match in Ableton live having imported two tunes that are slightly different tempos. I have tried using the beat markers and it doesn't seem possible to do this. Any help much appreciated. It depends alot on the source files. Most grid based songs Ableton...

Re: Problem playing audio from inside Ableton and the PC/Youtube

I have just built a new PC and have the problem of not being able to play audio outside of Ableton once the program is open. The problem goes one step further and that once I am done with Ableton I need to restart my PC before I can play any audio from the desktop or from say chrome. I'm using a Ec...

Re: Ensoniq SD-1 and VST equivalent/alternative for 80'ties and 90'ties pads

I'm have a possibility to buy a used Ensoniq SD-1. But I really don't have room for an extra keyboard. But I really like the 80'ties and 90'ties PAD sounds. Like there where in the Ensoniq TS10, VFX, SD and E-MU synths. They sound fat but yet musically simple to use. VST instruments like NI Massive...

Re: Is it possible to visualize grooves in arrangement view?

Hmm. yes, but I can't snap to that. Dont believe Ableton can do it. (Groove based gridlines?). Only workarounds is to use a reference midi clip and edit multiple clips. Or use reference audio clip if working with audio but you would need to edit to Arrange view. You can have audio or midi follow an...

Re: Suit/M4L - What is where included?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am planning to purchase an Ableton Live 10 Suit EDU license and have completely lost track of what is included and what is not. Especially when it comes to Max for Live. When I look for packs in the shop it sometimes says "included in live 10 suit" and some...

Re: Need Recommendation for Good Keyboard Controller

I'm looking for a good 49 - 61 key midi controller for use with Ableton. Here's what I'd like in a controller... • Build quality. Too many cheaply made controllers on the market. • Full size weighted or semi weighted keys. • Easy and solid integration with Ableton. • At least 8 knobs or sliders to ...

Re: Increase Piano Roll Range

Is there a way to increase the range of the piano roll on a midi clip? I am using the clip to trigger light banks and I have run out of notes (which correlate to songs in my setlist) I have over 200 songs but only a hundred or so midi notes on the piano roll. Thanks! I think midi 2.0 is around the ...

Re: Quantizing and Timing of Drum parts - is hardware MIDI superior?

If i record in MIDI with my Roland TR-08 to Ableton it is behind the bars (to the right) and slightly varied. Is it more musical to use hardware drum machines timing which is slightly behind the beat (and varied it seems) vs. quantizing all the way left to the bars in Ableton? I made music for year...

Re: How to use the sample browser as intended?

hey, thank you for the in-depth reply! i as well have organized my samples in a sensible folder structure (there are apparently too many for Live's liking, though - any tips on how to avoid the program becoming unresponsive for 5-20 minutes at a time while the sample indexer chokes on my collection...

Re: How to use the sample browser as intended?

Wait a sec? They STILL haven’t addressed this (IMO critical) aspect of the Live workflow? Sample selection - and therefore taggging and organisation - is such a big part of any workflow. 🙄 This was the main reason I never quite gelled with Push, coming from Maschine’s excellent tagging and searchin...
