I couldn't get this to work with my Korg Kontrol 49. I tried mapping it to a knob, but it would only change to two values 0 and 1:01:01. I think set might work though. but I decided not to map that since there is no easy way to change global quantization to 8 bars without using mouse(that I know of.).

Reason 4 new groove mixer handles this issue in a unique and creative way. Most of the newer sequencer designs (Live, Fruityloops, Project 5, and Live) assumed than global swing was a necessity but most of them overlooked individualized swing settings. All of these sequencers must overcome those obs...

Re: loop record regions like Protools and MORE video support

Hi, first let me say that Live 7 is a wonderful version - stable nice features all good. The ONLY things that keeps me from declaring Live as my main DAW are the following: (if and when these appear - I will be converted) 1. I need to be able to loop record and then select parts from multiple takes...

A minimize for VST would also be nice.

I also like how Sonar does VSTs where you can click the input or output of any audio or midi track associated with to open it up.

The main difference is that (any) MPC has near zero latency when triggering samples but the new ableton live 7 has not!! Minimum latency is ... 512 samples!! Which is too big for triggering drumsamples with pads or drumsticks (e-drum) ... So Live is not a drummachine, yet!! grtz :!: I can get Live ...

For Backup or Realtime Recording. For Backup anything will do. For Recording Firewire will give you slightly better performance than USB 2.0. 7200 rpm is a must! Seek time 10ms or less is also a must. Most new hard drives are capable of this. Shouldn't be too much trouble finding even for a decent p...

yeah, I'd like to do this in session, but is it possible to record music there? I find that live jumps to arr. the minute I hit record. That would be ideal, if I could jump from clips in session and at the same time record. Thanks for answering :D You don't record in Session by clicking the record a...

"Punching in" Session View

When in Session View, how do you approach situations where you like to record over maybe the last two bars (like 7 and 8) in a sequence. I know you could delete all midi data in 7 and 8 then start at bar 6 and start recording in 7 and 8, but then the clip loses its position with other clips. Is ther...

The disadvantage might be that a lot of ensembles (Reaktor's 'VST') take quite a bit of CPU resources. But there are some really great creations in the user library, highly recommended! Most of the built in ensembles are pretty light. Main disadvantage with Reaktor is complexity, time consuming to ...

I never would have thought ProTools would win this race, with 7.4 it seems they took they most fun aspect of Live and implemented into PT. Warp markers, stretching to the tempo, changing pitch, etc., all the fun and quick audio mangling Live can do. The irony is I switched to Logic days before this...

Rewire is a bit clunky but I still get stuff done with it. What I do is typically do parallel sequencing. I would open up Live. Rewire Reason into Live. Sequence entirely in Reason (or do foundation of song). Use Live for recording audio, or occaisonal softsynth sound or external midi sound I can't ...

seems odd to keep the boat a float the abes claimed ableton sounded just as good as Logic, Cubase etc so why update the audio engine? Well Sonar has a 64 bit audio engine and Traction has 64 bit summing. Pro Tools has 48 bit fixed point summing. Ableton (v6), Logic, Cubase, and DP has a 32 bit audi...

Re: Live 7's Missing Features?

It's cool that 7 has the slicer, side chain (although only in some effects) & drum map thing, but I sure hope it's more stable, because none of the things I was hoping for are there. - No record automation to Session (what the F*CK?) - No midi learn improvements - Still only 8 knobs per rack - No c...
