Re: Instrument Rack vs Drum Rack

Hi I was wondering what is the difference between an instrument rack and drum rack? I understand that drum racks can be loaded into instrument rack and played via midi but in an instrument you can also play your sample via midi. Probably best to read up on the Rack concept in general. In short Rack...

Re: Best PC audio interface for Ableton?

Just an update on this...I ended up grabbing a Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 and all of my issues have gone away. It just works effortlessly, and is so much more compatible with Ableton on a Windows platform. One major headache gone and I now realize there was no way I could continue with what I had. Best...

Re: Is there a plugin that tells you what chord you are playing?

hey there..just a suggestion....you should try and get a book on music theory. it will be a lot more helpful in the long run than an app or plug in that just tells you what chords you are playing. it will help you gain understanding as to why a certain chord has certain notes in it..etc. etc. and o...

Dump ASIO4ALL.

It's NOT an ASIO driver!
ASIO4ALL is usually pretty stable.

Some cheap interfaces actually use it for their drivers.

But it could be a sound card that's not playing nicely with it.

Re: Song sounds perfect in ableton but exported it sounds bad ):

Hey guys, Right now I'm creating a song using ASIO4ALL and it sounds great in ableton, but as soon as I render it to disk it doesn't sound correct at all. I mean it's still the same song, but it sounds so much more "airy" and low quality and just all in all crappy. Why does it sound amazing in able...

Re: looping audio files?

thanks for .... but what I want is very simple: looping my audio files WITHOUT warping the sound, that's all... how can I do this in the session part of Live.... please? Why in particular do you want to not warp by the way? Keep in mind looping an unwarped clip might take a few minutes in relation ...

You are probably better looking in Arrange view if you want to loop the old school method as Session is not as geared for this. T...

Re: CPU usage in Live 10

17 pages of bad experiences....I’m not upgrading, that’s for sure ! It's not that bad. Ableton historically never been the most efficient DAW but it definitely isn't the least efficient one and with Freezing, you usually can fix most issues. With an older PC though I might have a different opinion.

Re: Suggest what it's worth to record in Stereo

This my first post after years... I have been away but finally getting back making music again. Many years ago when I got Live 4 I had only guitar pedals. Then it was the time of multi-fx devices with stereo output. Usually I record Guitar and Bass as Mono tracks and Keyboards / Drums as Stereo Tra...

Re: Hammond B3 plug-in or standalone?

Does the Kontakt work in Live 10 or only within the Kontakt Player? How do I get Ableton to use the Kontakt? After listening in YouTube, it sounds closer to a real B3 than the Arturia. You can load up Kontakt as a VST or Audio Unit, then load up the Vintage organ library. It is a pretty nice librar...

Re: Hammond B3 plug-in or standalone?

Arturia has a Hammond B3 plug-in.

Kontakt also has a Vintage Organs Sample Library that has controllable drawbars as well.

There are probably others in terms of freeware, Reaktor/Max libraries or even different Sample Libraries.

Kontakt and Arturia both should allow Drawbar mapping.

Re: VST vs AU plugins?

Is there any benefit using one above another on Mac? I have, as an example, PianoteQ that installed both AU and VST plugin of the same instrument. There are minimal differences. VST presets are handled differently than AU, where you can get to presets via a drop down menu right on the device. AU ar...

Re: Good templates for electronic music?

My template is pretty blank slate.

The main thing I do is bind essential key commands.

t I bind to Tap Tempo
o I bind to Session Record
c I bind to toggle metronome playback
Num * I bind to Arrange Record

I'll probably bind Capture as well (maybe to C)

Re: Are there any statistics on how many people use Live 9 vs 10?

Tarekith I understand why you feel that way. I believe manufacturers have conditioned us consumers to accept strategic obsolescence. I have a whole closet full of gear that is “No Longer Supported”. But as consumers we have to ask “how long will this brand new, latest, greatest wiz bang have-to-hav...

Re: your export options for mix down/master?

can the human ear hear the difference between 24bit and 32bit? In normal circumstances, I doubt it. The main difference is 32 bit practically eliminates clipping or truncation loss. Probably better to export at 32 bit but that said most mastering houses still promotes 24 bit as it is more compatibl...
