This is actually a well known issue with the MPD32 and something that I guess you just have to deal with. PITA though.

Re: odd behaviour from akai mpd 32

Not sure if this will help you in your situation but I use my MPD32 with Bomes MIDI translator and Loopbe1. They're basically middlemen between the MPD32 & Live. With this setup you can unplug/plug in your MPD32 as many times as you want without restarting Live. You probably wouldn't even need Bomes...

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine

Push or the APC 40 seems more like a logical comparison. Not Push or Maschine If you're seriously trying to move away from a monitor and mouse, invest in some hardware http://www.elektron.se I actually disagree with this 1st statement. I think Push and Maschine can be compared as hardware controlle...

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine

[art] I would advise against jumping the gun. You just have to ask yourself what is the advantage in pre-ordering? I have to see something in the flesh before I make a purchase. What if the non-Pad buttons are cheap hard plastic? I asked the question on the beta forum and didn't get a response so I'...

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine

Damnit, my local music shop just hiked the price up. I thought £399 was too good to be true :D With similar development then I could see Push being insane in 3 or 4 years time. Its that potential that I can't shake myself free of and always has me thinking about a Push purchase. This is exactly my m...

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine

Thanks for the detailed response delicioso. What I meant by performance based is that you will have more octaves to play on and thus a more immediate surface to glide around on. I always felt somewhat restricted by 16 pads & stepping around octaves for more melodic work. Not sure what you mean but y...

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine

If I were to use Maschine standalone or plugin does the workflow differ at all for getting the tracks into Live? One thing I'm worried about is that Maschine software isn't as elastic as Live, meaning, ability to push the sounds around with the warping engine. Is it a case of recording each Maschine...

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine

Hey JMFone, you were also on the fence over this one.
What were the main things that swayed you to the Machine side?

I really hope Jesse gets a look at this thread; Ableton may lose quite a number of customers and threads like this might give them a good idea why.

Re: Is the AKAI MPD32 compatible with Ableton Live 8?

eddiex, you must have some pretty buff fingers :) I had to really smash on mine to get full vel, and I tried every conceivable combination of sensitivity & threshold. With the MPC Ren and Maschine that I've tried in my local shop it was so easy to do subtle triplets using just 2 fingers on the same ...

Re: Is the AKAI MPD32 compatible with Ableton Live 8?

No no, This is a serious mod. You need unscrew your MPD32 and look inside. I've opened up mine about 4 times now, it's really easy just a little time consuming and you have to be careful to not lose any screws. I took a couple of photos of the inside of mine just in case but it wasn't really necessa...

Makes me covet the Push even more now. Does that make me a superficial pleb?
