Re: i can't use my midi keyboard

do you still see an input signal from the keyboard (yellow box flashing, upper right-hand part of the screen)

I have issues like this sometimes, and it depends on my audio interface setting, the order that I turn my keyboard on (keys before ableton), and of course, my midi prefs

No problem. I bet you're glad it was something simple and not something you can't fix. :D

Re: Unprogrammed pitch change to samples in Drum Rack - pls help

what version of ableton are you using? 7, 8? Live, Full? You probably already did this, but make sure the pitch in the clip envelope is normalized. also look at the envelope under "Midi Ctr>all Midi parameters" for another pitch automation also check your automation envelope pitch is set at zero (if...

good work. chill, but groovy. I'd almost call it trip-hop (Massive Attack, Portishead, etc)

Re: BPM question?

just throwing an idea out there, since nobody has responded... write your clip at the bpm you want (125bpm) and set the out of that track to the in of another. set record to the 2nd track. use that as a sample when using the clip from then on. Sorry if this doesn't work, I'm not at my studio to try ...

Re: 15,6" fullHD (1920x1080) - too small pixels / PPI....?

My Asus is capable of 1920x1080, which I run my desktop at, but the first time I opened Ableton I noticed I had to strain my eyes to focus on everything. Obvious, but just change the resolution in the ableton settings. They have a handy zoom function for the Ableton layout. That way you have a machi...

Re: Acoustically treating an odd shape room

I live in a tiny flat and I have to mix in the sitting room with 2 huge windows. Currently my monitors are infront of the windows which Ive read is a big no no. Is it worth me buying/making some bass traps and stuff or will it just be pointless. The room is kind of a square but some angles in it wh...

Re: Audio clip - preserving original tempo

In preferences under Record/Warp/Launch is 'auto-warp long samples' on? I'm not sure what defines a 'long sample' but it's definitely auto warping your samples Alternatively, can't you just deactivate the warp when you import the audio clip from your library? I know what you're asking though. You wa...

Re: making clips

"consolidate" is what you want, even though it doesn't make much sense when you only have a single clip. Highlight the small clip that you just cut, and select consolidate. To test it (since I don't have ableton infront of me), in arrangement view, extend the edges of the clip. If that shortened cli...

Re: Adjusting Volume for midi data track in Arrangement view

In arrangement view, check out the small, orange rectangle on the right side of each track. You have to input volume in terms of dB instead of a %. Have fun!

Re: Adjusting Volume for midi data track in Arrangement view

Are you wanting to change the volume of each entire track as a whole or change volume over time in your arrangement?

It sounds like your problem is that the 'volume control' or fader in Arrangement View isn't as obvious as in Session View. Is this right?

Re: How can I create a slow volume fade-in for a song?

How familiar are you with Ableton? Are you talking about an arrangement you've made or a live fade-in? I hate to give a simple answer if that's not what you were going for, but try an automation envelope: double click the line to create 'breakpoints' where you can change the slope of the lines http:...

Delay between Digital Piano input and Ableton Output

Hey forum, I recently set up the midi connection from a Yamaha digital piano that I've had for maybe 7 years and have never connected it to my computer. I've noticed that when I arm a midi track for the piano input, the delay between hitting a key on the piano and the output of the track is unaccept...
