Re: How to know you are ready to move a project to Arrangement?

Unlimited options with Live is great! It can also create an unstructured environment in minutes :) Pergesu, great post! I find myself with a great 8 bar idea but get bored and move on to the next 8 bar idea, etc.

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine

I used to use AD a lot and now use Superior Drummer. I've wanted to use it in Maschine as well. The good news is the NI has confirmed MIDI file import as part of the major rewrite of Maschine's software for 2.0 that's been underway for some good while now. I haven't used that software, but love pro...

Re: Sitting on the Fence - Push or Maschine

hmm...I thought the point of having a drum machine is to program beats... I consider the built-in 'patterns' as "demos" for kits. good for testing the kits I agree. Save the money, get audio loops, slice to build your kits, get MIDI drum patterns to play your sounds. * What's the fine print if you ...

Re: which macbook pro best for heavy use live?

Myself I'd prefer the slower quad core rather than dual core
That's what I went with, + non-retina, replaced the super drive with the original HD and put in an SSD in the original bay. Incredibly fast and huge amounts of internal sample storage.

Re: Can you MIDI map the start and end points in Sampler?

Doesn't work it seems. Several parameters on the Sample tab can't be MIDI mapped nor accessed with M4l. Took a quick peek with the LOM.Navigator and at one time it looked as if I could access volume ('parameters 15') but that turned out to be the volume control on the Filter/Global tab, not the one...

Re: Push - Sample Recording/Chopping workflow needed.

It's possible to do what you want already by going to device mode then hitting a pad. At the top you'll see that next to the drum rack there is another slot for each pad. Select that device slot, then which ever encoder you change will be only for that pad. I'm really digging on the device mode. Lo...

Re: What is this sound effect and how is it done?

Anytime I hear the same sounds in different songs, I assume (maybe incorrectly) it's part of a library, and normally from a very popular keyboard or VSTi synth library I got flamed on a film forum when I suggested the sounds I was in search of were part of a sound library vs. someone hand crafting t...

Re: Can you MIDI map the start and end points in Sampler?

Maschine would be a much easier solution to get the type of hardware-based sampling workflow you're looking for: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xfjOl4PacaA&t=02m50s https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2l1BWy8LVw4 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZFY5oRrY8A I have Maschine and love it, but I am looking...

Re: Can you MIDI map the start and end points in Sampler?

Read up on Sampler or look at it as well. There should be Start and End settings that may be able to be mapped to the controller, I am not in front of my DAW (at work atm) so can't throw out what ones you should look to map. But I do know they are there, just don't recall names of the things to twe...

Re: Ableton 9 Manual's Section on Push

Hi folks, Thanks for the feedback on the manual. The goal is to make it comprehensive - it's definitely not meant to be a rehash of the videos. It starts with a walkthrough of the workflow, but then ends with a complete button reference. That being said, it's definitely getting updated regularly, a...
