one reason : harmonics (a sound with a fundatmental frequency at 400 hz generate harmonics at 800 hz, 1.6 khz, 3.2 khz, 6.4 khz, 12,8 khz, 25,6 khz, ...) those harmonics give "air" Yes, this is true, and you're right.
