Re: Vocal Sampling Advice
Just spend time digging through vocals you enjoy. Just look and look and look, but in a way that's fun to you and eventually you'll get a nice feel for it. Also don't worry about having a little instrumentation behind the vocal sample, it just needs to not be overbearing. I would definitely agree w...

Pitch down via repitch warp vs Sampler
Don't you think that stretching audio via repitch retains audio fidelity quite a bit better than pitching down in Sampler, even using Sampler's best quality option? I haven't done a side-by-side test but hey, why not post up a topic and gather a discussion. Sue me

Using Multiband Dynamics vs manually splitting/processing
Thoughts on the pros and cons of either approach?

Audio clips and concerns with timing + tail ends
I used to do all my sound design in Samplers, but now I've realized that working directly with audio clips is really the way to go. Obviously you can can get much more precise with your envelopes, you get to use the other warping modes, and the Repitch warp mode results in a much higher level of sou...

Re: Want to get more in the box but Ableton's filters are meh...
you can use any filter plugin with your sampler. Isn't it enough? Yea of course that's enough! My original question was asking what filters people recommended. I need one that sounds better than Live's, has an envelope generator (not an envelope follower) and isn't so taxing on the CPU - so I can h...

I hope you aren't just sampling a single wave from an oscillator and claiming that sounds better. sampling a sawtooth A3 at 44.1kHz and playing it two octaves down is the same as playing an 11.025 kHz sample. Not nice. Playing an A1 sawtooth two octaves up is a recipe for horrible aliasing you bett...

U-he DIVA Also, the point of analog synths are the filters I dont see the point in sampling their waveforms. U-he Diva is crazy on CPU though, I heard. Raw analog waveforms definitely sound better than Ableton's waveforms from Analog. Even comparing raw analog waveforms between different synths you...

Re: Want to get more in the box but Ableton's filters are meh...
Yea I see your point, I've definitely gave that some thought too. I should probably listen to a fair amount of soft synth waveforms, just haven't gotten around to that quite yet. I definitely think that my Mopho's raw waveforms sound just straight up better than Operator's. I know it's subjective bu...

So I want to get in the box. I've found myself sampling my hardware synths over and over so that I can layer them, but I really want to cut out the whole step of creating a sound on the hardware and then sampling it into the box. So what I've been doing recently is just sampling their waveforms with...

Re: Is this Really the Performance level of Live 9?
I don't know the specifics but sometimes Live's CPU goes crazy for me - to a nearly unusable state. When that happens I just restart my computer and the CPU works out really well.

Re: Any idea what bass is being used here?
I get what you mean when you say he seems to be using the same bass more or less. Kinda sounds like a nicely processed bass but it's probably just a good subtractive synth patch OR just straight up audio from his tracks, in which case it could be anything. Layers of bass guitar, subtractive synth, w...
