Name based coloring of clips and Launchpad

It would be nice if the name of the clip could change the color of the clip. I can imagine two forms, 1. prefix style and 2. postfix style clip names using a specific delimiter to differentiate among prefix.name.postfix, like demonstrated here a "dot" as a delimiter. Here some examples for the prefi...

Re: Accessing the "MxN-SessionView Matrix" directly via cmdline

Thanks Amaury for your tip, but would MaxForLive also allow triggers via the command line, I am asking as this would allow the connection to the external world via AutoHotkey in Windows. Also non-MaxForLive Live-API solutions would be interesting. Do we have any list of successful projects which use...

Accessing the "MxN-SessionView Matrix" directly via cmdline

The full title should be: Accessing the "M x N - SessionView Matrix" directly via the command line. Is it possible or do you know any command-line tool which can access, meaning select, any slot of the M x N-SessionView Matrix, where M is the number of available rows and N is the number of available...

Re: Jump to midi controller parameter

I'd like Live's GUI to jump to the controller I'm moving... Is that possible? It should be possible, if a system or software knows the structure of your Live performance setup like how many tracks you are using, how many effects you are usings, which effects you are using. I suppose if you would li...

Re: Recording Midi automation

It should just record any midi events into the clip. If you record midi-cc events then you should look for the events also there.

Re: Stuff in Live you wish you figured out a long time ago

Here another very important one which I just discovered, read 10 times to understand it: Drag'n'drop equals to Copy'n'paste , especially for midi files. This has the consequence that you can take any midi file on your harddisk, copy it into the clipboard using any programming language, e.g. AutoHotk...

Re: record live music w/ backing track?

How do you playback your backing midis, you can simply load or drag and drop those midis into Live and route them to a synthesizer (vsti or hardware synthesizer), then you can record into whichever tracks you armed. After recording your saxophone you can press on play and you would hear your backing...

Re: record live music w/ backing track?

if the confused newbie does not ask properly, which devices you have, what you do exactly, you can only get newbie replies. even this reply is too professional for your question imo.

Rewire: Reaper is host, Live is slave, Live sending midi 2R.

Title: Rewire: Reaper is host, Live is slave, Live sending midi to Reaper Is the title possible to be able to use the session view of Live for midi events? I searched a little in the forum but could not find a solution or detailed explanation yet. If anybody has any useful advice it would be great t...

Re: using midi songs in Ableton

I suppose Ableton forgot that side of midi development. Check Reaper ( http://www.reaper.fm ) if you want better midi support, like having in a single midi clip/item also note events on multiple different midi channels, also assigning those different channels/clips/items fastly to a certain vsti by ...

Time deletion but with excluding some tracks

In Live 7 it is possible to delete a time region from the arrangement view which does it cleanly for all tracks. Sometimes you can have situations where you want to run this operation for all tracks except some, e.g. the drums or anything which has some kind of "flow information" in it which you do ...

Maybe it is not clearly understood yet: I am talking of a scenario of (in maximum) 16 * 16 = 256 midi channels. I would not use all of these channels always, so a lot of those would be muted dynamically, but I would have such a big composition layout, just think of a big symphony composition or film...

ableton live? This you have to explain more how live can fulfill the 5 mentioned points above. It should be easy to replace any of the 10 used midis fastly, in live to be able to use one midi you have to start organizing your midi tracks after importing a new midi, so Live is definitely not the rig...

Synchronized playback of multiple midi files [offtopic]

This question is "offtopic" as not directly related to Live, but it is a musical question, so someone might know interesting answers, here is my problem: Do you know any music application for Windows OS, which can play multiple midi files (e.g. 10) which include each several midi channels in them sy...

MidiYoke/MidiOx can do this. How? For those who are interested, it's not enough to have MIDI-OX only, you also need a log text file to .mid converter: http://www.midiox.com/zip/Mtx2Midi-Installer.zip Then what you have to setup in MIDI-OX is following: 1. click the top most left icon, it says: "Set...
