Re: This Noob is in deep: seeking some feedback

Every track needs to be considered on its own, and in relation to every other track. That's mixing.

Re: Push feature requests

A macro page so I have all the relevant controls in one place rather than on individual tracks If I understand you correctly, if you have 9 Suite (or just Max for Live) you can do this already. Just rack up some "Multimap" devices from the M4L Essentials pack. You can then map the "input" knob to t...

Re: This Noob is in deep: seeking some feedback

Given that it's theatre, the voice has to stay more prominent in the mix than it does in most pop. Does it make sense to sing my vocal lines first, (I'd then tune it in Melodyne) and then refine my arrangment around the vocal? Given that I want the voice to really stand out? Any tips/tricks for tha...

Re: Accessing the operator GUI

Yes while true you can control all Operator parameters via Max for Live or Lemur thats not what the OP is asking. They are asking to programmatically change the view in Operator. That's a different question.

Re: Can you record a track's volume peaks?

Generally I would say it's better to hear with your ears than your eyes. Some parts SHOULD BE quieter than others. A visual approach wouldn't result in a musical output. Otherwise, see compression for ideas on how to deal with this without automation. There are many compression tutorials out there.

Re: Vocal comping - Recording/overdubbing - Separate tracks?

In short, there is no comping feature unfortunately in Ableton Live. You can hack some workflows together with the record and "new" buttons and things but at the end of the day it's far easier to just have 5 audio tracks going with the input set (in arrangement view) then on every take, use a contro...

Re: two pc's running in parallel

Well, from what I remember there was a hidden track in the mix. Noone could hear it but the system was designed to "hear" that signal (just a normal continous sinewave). If there was even a microgap in that signal (which is in other words a "message" that something might go wrong), the system switc...

Re: Just saw Robert Henke performance/lecture

Because there is nothing wrong with being a craftsman. No need to be self-conscious about it. No need to "elevate" it to being called art. OK then - what is the difference between craft and art? This could lead to one of those never ending discussions on the nature of art and what it is, but I'll s...

Re: two pc's running in parallel

You could send midi or OSC to two destinations from whatever controllers or instruments you use on stage to two different laptops and they should be doing the exact same things. In the midi example: http://www.motu.com/products/midi/xpressxt_usb I think the bigger problem is designing a system that ...
