In a large enough sample set (like this forum) you will pretty much find someone using just about any brand of laptop and audio interface. What's the point of listing this? I imagine the point is to find the most common brands and use that as a baseline for what "most people use" and hence maybe yo...

cool man. I thought about doing something like this too but i didn't think how cool it would be to have the usb gooseneck light.

thats my fav part. I can see even labeling they keys with UV reactive paint and using a black light in that lamp.

that would look great.

i name everything i start randomly. sometimes i just hit some keys on the keyboard and hit save. other times i look for the first word or phrase i see on my desk and name it that. Makes for shitty organization but after the song is already done it's interesting to see what it's title is. I have many...

Re: A little advice to all you LIVE performers...

i have mixed countless electronic performers over the past 10 years and the ones that sounded the best are the ones that gave the sound engineer a bit of control over the sound. Granted, if you're working with a house engineeer that hates that you make music with a computer there is only so much yo...

build the live set where it sounds as good as you can just as you would for release.. then demand a soundcheck and tweak it in the club for the room you will play in and the system in will play on during that soundcheck. compensate for the fact that the room will sound different when its full of peo...

If you have a controller with an x/y pad you can use it with anything in ableton though as shown here:

Sound Forge is really good at this.

There is "auto region" which will find the hits for you then "extract regions" which will export a file for every slice.

You can even use the batch functionality to automate this even further.

You might want to search through the list archives. This comes up a lot.

A key component is if your controller can send incremental changes. Like sending 10+1 instead of 11.

Record to clip envelope

I feel like this is a stupid question but... can you record automation to a clip envelope rather than to arrangement view? I want to be able to lets say, mess with a filter cutoff while playing and have that be part of the clip, not any arrangement. I know I can do it by drawing it but it would seem...

OT: bidule vs. max vs Pd vs. Reaktor vs. etc...

I was looking at bidule today... Anyone have a link to any discussion that compares and contrasts these custom environments? I think it's pretty neat that bidule can host VSTi's itself (wish reaktor could do that) and there is also Price as an consideration... But other than that, what does Bidule p...

phatmatik does rule but I have found some bugs with it in live. If you map certain knobs on a controller to certain controls in phatmatik when using lives mapping stuff some of them are switched up. Also there is no way to get access it seems to individual slice controls via midi controller, just th...

have a search through youtube. I don't have time right now to find the links for you but there are several videos on there of people showing you how they use various game controllers with ableton and other daws.
