Until recently i would have blamed vista but... http://www.motu.com/newsitems/vista-drivers-shipping I suspect it's more of a firewire compatibility issue. A friend of mine had nothing but problems with the firewire builtin to his HP laptop and as soon as he bought the right firewire PCMCIA card eve...

While nothing wrong with using mastering plugins or applications to enhance your material, you should really think of mastering not so much a tool or effect, but a series of processes that a well trained engineer performs based on a number of subjective and objective factors. Mastering software or p...

Personally I always require Stereo but I suppose it depends on the type of music. If it's mono i may get weird phase canceling issues and the risk goes up that the overall sound will suck. I also actually like the fact that with a stereo mix it will be a different experience depending on where you s...

I use the Asio4all2 driver, harness the onboard soundcard on my motherboard, load winamp and bus it straight into an input channel in Live5. It's a load of fun tap tempoing Live to net radio and grabbing loops on the fly. Where can I get this driver? Finding that off google is quicker than posting ...

I wrote a php "task manager" thing that I use for my bands where to do items can be assigned to different members.

Though, Google's free Calendar is a pretty good way to organize things between multiple musicians over the web.

I fail to see how this is a yes or no question. How would we know if a preset is the right sound for your song? I have spent tons of time building my own patches that sounded just like some presets. Is it better somehow because I made it if it sounds exactly the same? It doesn't matter who makes it....

i've always wanted one of these but that price seems way crazy for a bank of knobs with a midi port on them.

Hey stale, did you sort it out? As I recall you have to change your master outs in you mac os sound preferences if you want to record the system out through the analog outputs. I think this means you won't hear it out the master outs as well as the analog outs at the same time. But I can't remember...

not sure if it was answered yet but you can assign any key to mute or solo a track. I think that was part of your original question. I'm also still not sure why using location markers to jump around a pre-arranged view of 115 tracks wouldn't work fine. I see no need for Session view for what you're ...
