Re: triggering unwanted change of presets

I run Live with clips and synth plugins while I play guitar on stage. I use a bomes midi translator and a footcontroller, ground control pro, to change the record enable to tracks I have different plugins on. This is great cause I can have as many midi tracks open as I want. Heres the problem. When...

The topic of mastering and getting the right level for your rendered track goes way beyond what I can get into here. But .. what I do is leave the master fader in ableton at 0db and put a limiter on to keep it at 0db. Then i use the master fader on my mixer to control my monitor level, not the one i...

Interesting. (modul8 does rule)

Did you find bugs in Live 6's midi implementation? or is there something that changed usability wise that made your configuration break? Seems like it's just straight forward midi.

Live to control VJ application

In my live performances, I want to start encorporating VJ work into the set. I could of course, just render out some video and play it back, or have two laptops and use Ableton on one to do the audio and a VJ app on the other do handle that. But.. I think if i try to VJ and perform live with Ableton...

I'm one of the suckers who paid for the original dbGlitch, then he made it free.

Hopefully either 1.5 and 2.0 remain free an he uses my money as a donation, or I get a free upgrade when he decides to charge.

why not put a compressor/limiter on the master channel that keeps things below 0db. Then you can pump the level a bit but not worry about distortion. You just have to keep the level low enough that it doesn't overcompress in a way you dont' want. (since you can't put effects post-fader on the master)

I don't think anyone else can really say that for you.

The answer will come down to it depends. Try the demos, if you think they are better than what you're using as a vsti, buy them, if not, don't.

Re: Saving Impulse drum sets

I'm having trouble getting a grasp of Impulse. The only way I know to make use of it is to drag an Impulse drum set from the browser onto a midi track. I have learned how to change those drum sounds. But there are two display modes of the Impulser. Type A is where I can change the drum set, type B ...

It doesn't have to be firewire. You just need any audio interface with multiple outputs so you can designate one for your headphones to cue.

There are many articles and books which go into Djing with live in detail.

Mac or PC, hard drive speed has a lot to do with what you can pull off with multiple audio tracks.

Get a 7200rpm drive for that thing.

Luxury. If you get used to mixing with all that sub sound, you'll start mixing for it so sound good only when there is a sub present. The reality is though that most people are going to listen to your music on crappy computer speakers or ipod earbuds. It's great to have a sub and take that into acco...

Outside of the other suggestions on the thread..

Hard drive speed matters a lot.

If you got the default drive on that mac it is 5200rpm and thats not fast enough to run many tracks of audio at once.
