If you've got unused buttons or knobs, you're not looking hard enough for things to assign them to... ;) There are all kinds of things you can assign MIDI notes to. Yeah, the effect on/off switch is a pretty common thing to want control over. But just about every parameter of every Live effect (and ...

i figured it out! how to delete stopped clips via MIDI
It's so simple it was hard... A while ago I lamented that there is "no way to delete a stopped clip via MIDI"... I was incorrect. The situation: You've set yourself up with a limited number of slots in which to record, and you've already got them filled up with clips... Some of those are eventually ...

arrangement -> session - my clip lengths keep resetting!#
 I am having a tough time with clip lengths today, I don't know why and it seems to be all of a sudden (i.e. it wasn't happening yesterday as i was doing the same process). What I'm trying to do is take a long clip in the arrangement view, slice it up into shorter, loopable clips, and mov...

Scene Tempo transition?
1. If I can now define a tempo for a scene, can I also define a transition length (be it in seconds, beats, measures etc) and "ramp shape" to get me there?
2. Did I read the features correctly? Does Live4 give us the new ability to "prelisten" via a second audio device/sound card?

New Volta Kindred CD produced in Live3
I've posted about my group's music before, but we just finished our first studio CD and I thought I'd share here. It's the first full-length CD project I've worked on in Live, and it's the best experience so far I've had in music production. You can check out 2 new tracks at our new web site at www....

Check the topic "Multi Track Drums" for the answer!
http://www.ableton.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7942 You can just make copies of the associated .ASD file for your warped clip and rename them to match the wave files that you want to warp. This is assuming your audio files (.WAV or AIFF) are the exact same length. Alternately you can copy the warped c...

Ooh, yeah... put it in my preferences.
Good one. I would like the option of being able to have them default to "off" for live purposes, but for messing around at home, "on" is better.

Dance Dance Revolution pad convert to MIDI?
Actually Smutek I saw mention once of a converter for PC that would let you use a DDR pad as a MIDI controller. But I can't seem to track the elusive software down. It would be a damn fun controller though. Hell just for tap tempo and such it would be a real blast.
