Mackie Control/Midi/Profire 2626 - Not locking up
Hello. I have been using a Mackie Control for years with out any problems, and I just upgraded to a M-Audio Profire 2626. Oddly, the faders at startup into Live are not matching what is on screen. If I go into preferences>midi/sync> and switch off & on the track, sync or remote options for In or Out...

Re: Audiofile Engineering Triumph - mac editor $60
Wave Editor was a better workflow. Triumph just drives me nuts. Not intuitive at all. It seems like everything takes longer than it needs to.
The price is about right, but whew...... no one 2 track editor for Mac hits all the right spots.

Re: Mac, Audiofire 12, Ableton Input crackles.....
Hi No I only run a single AF12. There is something goofy going on with the Echo unit or driver. They (in theory) are just using the Core Audio driver spec but there must be more to the equation. Presonus makes solid stuff but I've never heard anyone brag about their drivers. But this Firestudio Proj...

Re: Mac, Audiofire 12, Ableton Input crackles.....
Just an update on my situation. So I tried each driver (and flashed the AF12 firmware. It really helped when I uninstalled the old driver and deleted the pref. file & .plist file etc. I rolled back my Echo driver to 4.8 and all things are far more smooth. 512 sample buffer (at 80% CPU) but I monitor...

Re: Mac, Audiofire 12, Ableton Input crackles.....
Also really curious if the OP got his single AF12 running smoothly? Not quite there yet. Marcel at Echo support has been a great help. He pointed me to a newer (yet unreleased) V 5.8 driver. I thought this was helping. But, much like dafragsta, changing the buffer up or down seems like a crap shoot...

Re: Mac Interface - Core Audio - So Drivers don't matter?
Ya, that's the thing. My Audiofire 12 has been working great for a long time but never stellar latency wise. I'm looking to get a portable 8 preamp interface that is as Mac friendly as possible. Metric Halo, RME and MOTU are always mentioned as being tightly integrated driver wise. Whereas it looks ...

Re: Mac Interface - Core Audio - So Drivers don't matter?
I guess I'm wondering if there's any advantage latency and stability wise between any of these manufacturers that are using Apple's Core Audio driver?
For instance..... does RME write a different/ better driver for Mac than the default Core Audio driver?
Thanks!

Mac Interface - Core Audio - So Drivers don't matter?
I'm looking at a replacement (8 Mic Pre) Interface for Mac. If they all use the Audio Core Mac driver....... does it really matter which I choose - stability wise? Put another way I need the most stable Firewire and or USB 8 pre interface for Mac. Is there an advantage (not sonically but stability w...

Re: Mac, Audiofire 12, Ableton Input crackles.....
Still can't figure this out. Going to the Echo Console and changing to another sample rate fixes it - for a while. The issue returns later. In Ableton Live my CPU % is 4-10%. Anything over 4-5% seems to make it worse. Any have any more suggestions for a plan of how to troubleshoot? I have re-install...

Mac, Audiofire 12, Ableton Input crackles.....
Hi. I've been using Live since version 2 without a single buffer interface issue - ever. Lately I've been getting random digital hash, crackles etc on input only. Add to that when I try & change buffer settings using the test tone 80% goodie it's really buggy. Sound drops out completely. Odd. My cur...

Re: Live 9 will be for OSX only!
.......if Ableton were to drop the Windows OS, i would have no hesitation in moving over to Bitwig Studio. I dont want to as i love Ableton, but if it wasnt available anymore, then i would have no choice. This is your first post? Already jumping ship? Mac with Ableton vs. "BitWig (beta) and Windows...

Re: Poll: Who has moved on?
Is Ableton Live perfect? No.
Is any other DAW "better"...... not even close.
Live is still a great DAW and I've tried them all. Enjoy!
