Re: I really hate the way Ableton handles file management!

Ok, so here's what I HAVE to do in order to make projects self contained. Record into my template, "Save AS" but make sure the file path is NOT in the same project folder, then do "Collect All and Save". I can then delete the original files in the template project so as not to keep duplicate recordi...

Re: I really hate the way Ableton handles file management!

I have been messing around with this for a bit and Collect All is simply not working. It doesnt take the files originally recorded in a different project and copy them into the new project. Do I have to manually fucking drag in files into the new project??? So pissed about the way this works, this m...

I really hate the way Ableton handles file management!

It's super annoying that "Save As" does not copy all of your files into that project. Most other software does it this way. Even "Collect All and Save" fails to work unless you remember to move the project out of the original project's folder and into it own project. I just lost some really importan...

...and for the love of all things under the sun allow an "Insert Time" so I dont have to grab half of my projects arrangement with 30+ tracks just to move it over 8 bars to create dead space! You mean this "Insert Silence"? https://www.ableton.com/en/manual/arrangement-view/#using-the-time-commands...

Re: Live 10 around the corner?

If I had it my way I would disable the session view altogether. I just dont use it, and sold my Push because I was basically forced to follow that workflow. I suppose I would have been better off with a linear DAW like like Cubase or Logic. However, Ableton was easy to start out on and everything se...

Re: Live 10 around the corner?

Come on Tarekith, you probably know that 10 is right around the corner and may even know what's in store. Of course you cant say anything about it but I have a feeling you have been messing around with the beta for a while now. A certain emoji reply will suffice!

Re: Bitwig 2 was just announced. What about Live 10?

I'm very torn on whether to jump on the Bitwig 2 bandwagon. I think you need to read some Bitwig user groups. Their pain is different and not the pain I want. Yeah, thats why I'm waiting to see what 10 has to offer. While Bitwig sounds enticing, learning another DAW will have its set-backs and head...

Re: Bitwig 2 was just announced. What about Live 10?

I'm very torn on whether to jump on the Bitwig 2 bandwagon. I have played with the demo and the audio editing is much better in Bitwig, mainly because they added clip fades, but instead of having to hold cntrl-shft-f like in Ableton you just hover the mouse over the clip edge which gives you the opt...

Re: Best way to get to know modular synthesis

Caustic 3.1 app (IOS or Android) has a built in modular synth which is a very easy to learn and wont break the bank, plus you can lay in bed or on the couch and nerd out moving patch cables around.

Getting too excited after making a song and posting it to soundcloud thinking its great, then listening to it the next day and realizing its shit! Learn to EQ! Learn to compress, but not over compress! The biggest thing I learned recently was using metering to see when sounds were occupying the same...

He's going to really love trying to to fade audio clips in Bitwig, it cant be done unless you automate the volume.

Re: Why does Ableton keep adding new features that no one wants?

Lets just hope Ableton isnt following in Apple's footsteps, their innovation stagnation is really depressing. I cant believe they are still charging what they are for basically 4 year old hardware! I find it interesting that you have to be a part of the centercode system for Abes to listen to you. 9...

Re: Why does Ableton keep adding new features that no one wants?

I hated the browser at first but once I discovered ease and power of "PLACES" that all changed. I now have my own folders for my most used stuff like custom Eq's, Compressors, Racks etc.. in there. I hate folder diving so doing it this way makes getting to my stuff a few mouse clicks faster. However...
