you could probably make something like this pretty easy in Quartz composer. I did a really basic flashing cube for a midi sync thing a while back..

I am torn... may have some money coming from santa this year, and was really tempted to get Circle, which i think the demo is really impressive. Osculator is worth every penny i think. Especially if you're using Wiimotes, iphones or and any other OSC stuff. i think it works well because you can then have a local archive of all your interests (mine is in osx mail) and that means locally searchable. Also i like to see if there are any replies of a thread i'm interested in.

Might not matter to some people, but i like to use an RSS reader for most of my stuff online and it helps when you can subscribe to specific topics..

My 64 Monome has just arrived! its about a 1/3 smaller than i expected, which is good for gigs, and the led buttons seem really solid. The whole thing is lovely. i now need some free time to experiment...

They only exist for PCs and they're over $120 anyway. I'm not sure they'd support all of firewire's features either.

Apple Motion has an interesting way of dealing with having both keyframe data (clip based automation) and behaviours (realtime changeable data - such as LFOs). It allows both.
