Re: APC40 TIPS --- Share Your Brainz!

He is using Bomes to capture input and then send it back as key commands etc... and then sending midi data to the APC to light it up as he wants.

The "mode" is \him turning on/off various translators in Bomes.

Re: Reconfiguring APC40 (Bomes vs max for Live)

Yeah took me forever to figure that out... I'm pretty sure that's the set up you should use. I'll keep you posted. Right now just for my own organizational/educational purposes, I'm creating a bomes preset that lets you tweek all the lights, and encoder halos by playing keys on midi keyboard and pit...

Re: APC40 with Bome question

Yeah, I figured it out. Have to do some funky routing via virtual ports.

Re: Reconfiguring APC40 (Bomes vs max for Live)

First make sure Ableton is closed. In Bomes midi ports: *Create a virtual port (Bomes Virtual Midi Translator 1) and open both in/out port aliases for it *Open both the APC40 In/Out Port aliases in Bome's midi router: Bomes Midi Translator Virtual Port 1 in to the APC 40 Out APC 40 in to the Bomes M...

Re: Reconfiguring APC40 (Bomes vs max for Live)

Hmmm... I must being doing something dumb. Anyone got APC (via USB connection) running into Bomes and translating properly? Can't seem to get it to work. I got my SL and other devices working fine... it also seems to make a difference if I start up Ableton before Bomes and visa versa. Any help would...

Re: APC40 with Bome question

I can get bomes working with my other midi gear... but for some reason when I try to select the APC's in/out ports I get the following error: Cannot open MIDI input device "Akai APC40": There is not enough memory available for this task. Quit one or more applications to increase available memory, an...

Re: Newbie Question concering Live live

Things to investigate: Clips can be set to launch other clips. (There might be a way to launch scenes that way too... I don't know about that though.) You can launch a whole row of clips with the scene launcher buttons. In the preferences you can set tracks to record into clip slots when the track i...

Re: recording from ableton into sound forge

It's been awhile since i've used soundforge, but depending on your sound card's mixer, I think there's a way to "audition" things happening in the sound card and record that. Or if you are VERY careful, you might be able to route your outs back into your ins... JUST MAKE SURE NOTHING IS AUDITIONING ...

Re: Midi notes not sounding?

Are you using a sound card with an ASIO driver or something with good latency? Might just be the gear isn't communicating fast enough? That's the only thing I can think of, unless you have something else going on like bomes translater or midi mapping that might "steal" the note... but then you'd exp...

Re: Avoiding accidental double pressing on a MIDI controller?

Yep. Use a momentary foot pedal (like a sustain/expression pedal instead of one that "latches" on/off), and use bomes to only pass on the "on" state and swallow the "off state". The paid version of bomes has timer functionality in it you could probably use to make double sure. Nice thing about bomes...

Reconfiguring APC40 (Bomes vs max for Live)

So, here's the gist of what I want to do. Leave the first 4 columns of buttons as they are. Will load premade audio click tracks and audio loops into those. The next for columns I want to be targets for my live performances. Each one representing a new track/clip target. I'll be able to have multipl...

Midi mapping Record Enable not obeying Exclusive preference

Is this being fixed any time soon?

Otherwise I'm stuck with using Bomes to store the last enabled track, and disabling when I arm a new one. :-/

Keyboard mapping respects the exclusive arm preference... but I've run out of keys, and for other reasons prefer to use midi.

Thanks!

:)

Re: How do you make YOUR Live set?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L2McDeSKiOU There's two parts. Should get you thinking about things in the right direction if you are doing beat mashing / DJing. There's another side to Live which is live looping, see Kid Beyond, but imagine any intrument(s) including midi synths as well: http://www....
