Re: kontact 3 and ableton 8

I think if you just drag it from the list of VSTs from the broswer on the left directly into a midi track you should be good to go as it essentially "puts" that VST into that track. Then as long as you record enable that track and have your midi set up right, you'll hear it when you play your key bo...

Re: Play two clips at the same time in same channel?

I can understand the desire... especially now that I have the APC 40, I want to do this same thing. In fact I was just about to post a question asking this myself... just in case they slipped something new into Live 8. ;) For live loopers, it kinda sucks to have to keep adding things to your set by ...

Re: APC40 TIPS --- Share Your Brainz!

Not at home to give you details... but I'm fairly certain as long as you correctly set things up in the preferences it should work. You have to select it as a control surface in the drop downs, but also enable it's "remote" control option buttons. I'm pretty sure this is described in the quick start...

Not at home yet to fool around, but in case someone already knows:
I'm getting proficient with bomes, but how to color pads? Is that a sysex back to APC or something?

When does Ableton pass cc# to tracks?

This is kind of a dumb question I know... but just to appease my nagging doubts: Say my keyboard sends a midi cc mesage to ableton. If ableton is midi mapped to do something with that, will it: a) intercept it completely, squelching the midi cc from continuing to tracks b) intercept it, do the midi ...

Re: Send current Scene, Track, Arm/Disarm to MIDI Controller

Have no idea about live sending messages out... i think until Max for Live you might be outa luck, seems like the APC 40 has some proprietery stuff going on. But unless I'm mistaken about what I've seen, I've seen someone making monome light up with live... though maybe they were using max or someth...

Re: HELP! Whats up with my sustain!!

not sure without details, but here's a shot:

some pedals have little switches which determine polarity and things like momentary vs click and hold... also, double check you haven't accidentally midi mapped it.

Re: Suite 8 vs Komplete (I need help deciding)

In my experience, NI software is CPU intensive but beautiful sounding... I love the FM8 for compelling pads, and of course Battery 3 makes me giddy. The Akoustic piano sounds REALLY sweet. But it's big. Depends on your rig if the more sample based NI stuff like Akoustic Piano will hold up in a live ...

Not have track # in name of midi track?

I'm sure there must be an obvious solution I'm missing. If I name an Midi Track "My Instrument A" it always names it "3 My Instrument A" where "3" is the track number. When I go to rename the track I see "# My Instrument A" and if I delete the "#" it still puts it in there. I guess I need to name th...

Re: Remote SL drum pad in Automap: make it not send note data??

Oh, I'm using the User page associated with Midi Channel 1, not controlling a wrapped VST instrument. Settings>midi channels> 1 Then browse to user page to see a blank page with generic CCs associated to all the controls. That is where seemingly I can change midi params on everything, including pads...

Re: Remote SL drum pad in Automap: make it not send note data??

Actually I think it does both... for the other controls anyway...(Unless I'm really confused) For instance, I can change a fader's parameter to CC1 or CC127 or whatever. Otherwise what's that red field at the bottom with "parameter" that lets me pick the midi parameter type for? Just doesn't seem to...

Remote SL drum pad in Automap: make it not send note data??

I must be missing something obvious. I have Remote SL in Automap 3 (template 38) I have user map in channel 1... I can map encoders and sliders to various parameters, but when I try making one of the drum pads parameter to a CC message, or even a different midi note, it always seems to send a C1 (or...
