I don't think they are running scared, and I have the utmost confidence in their ability to straighten out R3. However, the latest version of Project 5 from Cakewalk is defintiely going to give them some competition. I am still learning the ins and outs of P5, but it is way cool.

ReWire is a solid protocol, and Reason 2.5 ReWires to Live very well. Reason 3.0 has some issues (see the propellerheads website for details), but the update is in a public beta testing phase right now, so these issues will soon be history.

The electribes have the most f*cked up MIDI implementation I have seen. To change a program in bank A, your bank select needs to be 0 and your program is 0-63. Bank B has a 0 for bank select and program is 64-127. Bank C has a 1 for bank select and program is 0-63. Finally, Bank D has a 1 for bank s...

I played with the new Trigger Finger from M-Audio. That will be my controller of choice for Live when it shows up.

With respect to the PC platform, I think Live is in the upper echelon of sequencer apps if you are rating them by stability. While it pains me to say it, Live is more stable than my beloved Cubase SX 3.

I am not 100% sure what you are trying to do here, but I will try to offer an answer. The AKAI mpd16 only sends note on / note off messages with velocity. It does not send Control Change messages, SysEx, RPN / NRPN, etc. Are you trying to trigger clips in the session view with the mpd16? If this is ...

I heard Reaktor is nothing but a huge bug and crashes and could possibly ruin your computer.. But those that say it say it is a good machine but for as the bug issues and risk its not worth the money. :( I do not wish to discount the reports you have heard, but Reaktor is simply fabulous, and I hav...
